From our clients

Our Expertise

Industry Experience

"At Guildford Coal outsourcing the accounting back office function to PKF Lawler makes for good governance, economical and business sense. It provides Guildford access to a highly experienced team technically skilled in helping mining businesses to achieve results. Further, it allows management time to focus on core business activities and remain confident that the business complies with statutory obligations.”

- Jason Culpeper, GM Finance & Commercial, Guildford Coal

“PKF Lawler recently assumed responsibility for Port Waratah Coal Services’ Internal Audit function. The quality of a firm is largely a direct reflection of the quality of the people that service their clients. We have now dealt with one of their partners Martin Matthews and his team for several years now. The offer a degree of professionalism, flexibility and a strategic approach to modern business risks that is innovative and refreshing. Having a senior Partner that takes a close interest in our business and is prepared to take a hands on role to understand pragmatically the real issues and work with Management to resolve them has developed and fostered an excellent professional partnership.”

- Geoff Crowe, General Manager Commercial, Port Waratah Coal Services

“PKF Lawler advise us and add value here in Australia but more importantly, they helped us to get our overseas company and tax structures setup correctly from day one. Working in overseas mining and rail markets like South Africa, Mozambique, Liberia and Guinea as well as the Americas is full of pitfalls and PKF Lawler and their network of overseas partners have combined to give Banlaw the best of international and local advise and protection. Banlaw has developed a strong strategic relationship with Andrew Beattie and his team at PKF Lawler and we enjoy working with them.”

- Bill Clifton, Group General Manager, Banlaw

Mining & Mining Services

The mining sector and businesses that service the mining industry have unique accounting challenges.

At PKF Lawler, we understand that every project has specific demands and so requires customised advice and measures.

Demonstrated experience

Our team has experience in helping mining and mining services businesses to achieve results during all phases of operation – from start-up, strategic planning and growth through to business succession planning, including mergers and management buy outs. With demonstrated experience in providing practical and effective strategic planning advice, PKF Lawler works with our clients to ensure that they, whether servicing the mining industry or operating directly in that space, are always positioned to capitalise on market opportunities and best cope with the changing landscape.

Suiting your needs

Depending on your needs, we go beyond assisting clients to navigate the complexities of the changing Australian regulatory system. We add real value to organisations that face the financial challenges and risks associated with operating in mining, and to those businesses that provide distinct and specific services to support the mining industry in Australia and globally.

Engineering

The term engineering covers a range of disciplines and we have experience in many. Our client base includes suppliers to the Oil & Gas industry; precision machining of sophisticated componentry; fabrication and installation of steel structures; maintenance, demolition and remediation of sites and structures; along with a range of clients providing consulting services in environmental, civil, mining and other engineering disciplines. PKF Lawler is also the sole accounting firm that is a member of HunterNet – a co-operative network of manufacturing, engineering and consulting companies widely recognised in the Australian market.

The nature of these clients is that their businesses are constantly evolving and we take an integral role in their operations and governance, rather than simply preparing accounts and tax returns. This often extends to sitting on our clients’ Advisory Boards giving us a complete view of the workings of the business.

Through our Corporate Finance division, PKF Lawler has been involved in numerous transactions for banks and banking syndicates specifically in Engineering and Mining Services.
