LIVE 2 GIVE DAY 2014

The Vancouver Canucks organization is eager to show our dedication to assisting those in need, just as our players do through their numerous charitable endeavours. For that reason, the Canucks office closes for an entire work day every November so our employees can participate in the organization’s annual “Live 2 Give” event. On Friday, November 6th, over 150 Canucks staff members volunteered at multiple charities including Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, the Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, and Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities.

HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER GALLERY | VIDEO The Canucks hosted Hockey Fights Cancer (HFC) Awareness night during their home game on Sunday, October 26th. This league-wide initiative raises money and awareness for cancer care and research. Canucks players wore a HFC decal on their helmets and used lavender stick tape while coaching staff, management, and team broadcasters sported lavender HFC ties. Special guests from the Canadian Cancer Society, BC Children’s Hospital, and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society also attended the game.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

HAMMER’S HEROES This season, Canucks defenceman Dan Hamhuis is recognizing young, local heroes by bringing them and three of their guests to a Canucks home game. As part of their evening, Hammer’s Heroes (aged 18 or younger) are recognized on the big screen in-game to help inspire others in attendance to also give back in the community. Post-game, Dan meets with his Heroes to show his appreciation for their efforts. Nominate a young, local hero today at canucks.com/hammersheroes.

50:50 PROGRAM The 50:50 Program is one of the primary fundraising vehicles for the Canucks for Kids Fund. At every home game, dedicated volunteers sell 50:50 tickets with half of the jackpot total benefitting the Fund. This season, the program features a new Poinstreak 5050 electronic system and free mobile app, and kiosks at sections 112, 122, 314, and Gate 8.
