Glenmoor Country Club Show - September 17, 2017

12 noon to 5:00 PM

Please respond to the following questions to Irene or any CAL board member ASAP.

* Are you willing to demonstrate your art.?

* Know anyone who is willing to do face painting?

* Do you have a display system you can bring? Will you fill it up or have space to share? What size? (Glenmoor and CAL have some display panels for those who don’t have their own.)

July - Pam LaRocco

I paint because I am inspired by

what I see, feel, and touch.

Regardless of the subject it has

to speak to me in some way. My

goal is to draw in my viewer and

show them my own emotional

reaction to the subject. Art has

the power to make one see

things in a new light. It allows

us to develop a love for places and things that we would

otherwise not have noticed and helps us discover the

beauty that is before us.

I am unconditionally committed to developing whatever

talents and abilities I have so that I can create art of the

highest standard I am capable of. This has taken me on

an exploration of many different mediums and genres of

art. Watercolors have become my favorite medium to

work in but my journey continues in learning about

others.

I have tried to interpret things as I feel inside and with

sincerity. I hope my personal expressions of things dear

to me touch you, please the spirit and fill your life with

joy. I hope to always be growing as an artist.

I have exhibited at shows in Canton, Akron, and

Massillon. In 2008 I had a solo show at The Little Art

Gallery in North Canton and have a painting in their

Permanent Collection. My works are collected by

individuals throughout the United States.

Coming Exhibit at CMA

Scrimmage: Football in American Art from the Civil War to the Present (Aug. 1 – Oct. 30, 2017) Scrimmage: Football in American Art from the Civil War to the Present investigates the history of football imagery by prominent American artists and photographers beginning with Winslow Homer’s

engravings for Harper’s Weekly at the close of the Civil War and culminating with the work of contemporary artists such as Catherine Opie and Shaun Leonardo. Featuring more than 60 artworks, which represent a variety of media including prints, paintings, sculpture, photographs and video, the exhibition contains works assembled from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, the Figge Art Museum, Denver Art Museum, The Rockwell Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts - Houston, Yale University, Canton Museum of Art, and numerous other public and private collections. The imagery in Scrimmage attests to the fact that football has played a significant role in American cultural history for the last 150 years. Scrimmage is the first scholarly exhibition to survey football in art and to demonstrate that a multitude of artists have made important images of this quintessentially American sport. This special exhibition is organized by the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art (formerly the University Art Museum) at Colorado State University, and the Jorden Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon.
