for nearly 6 months (removed) and a junk vehicle in the street (moved). The condition of one home that has been an eyesore for some time is being considered.

• Maintenance – The Board is still considering the cost/benefit of installing an LED sign at the front entrance for better visibility than the small letter sign. Tom attended the Foothills Chaucer Park meeting. The report was very encouraging. Foothills (from the approved mill levy tax increase) has $300,000 budgeted for Chaucer Park. Only $80,000 of that was spent in 2018 for the new playground and general cleanup around the park. Foothills has indicated that most of the balance will be spent in 2019 and will include a new, larger shelter, additional benches, more trash cans and a complete rebuild of the 25-year old irrigation system for the park.

• Website – The Calendar of Events is all up to date. The new “Wine Club” description will be incorporated into the website and the new Board names/titles will be updated. The address for the HOA web site is (www.http://hoacanterbury.com).

• Real Estate/Welcoming – There was only one sale in the neigh-borhood in the last month – fountain home along Vista View and a blanket was delivered to the new owners.

• Old/New Business - The Board is planning on installing a sec-ond, shorter “Little Library” in Chaucer Park targeting the kids with kid’s books. The Board is also looking into providing a Shredding Service to coincide with Dumpster Day.

• Other – The newsletter is always looking for new, original, inter-esting content that might benefit the Homeowners so please let us know if you have something to share.

The Hunt Is On! Call for Volunteers The Easter Egg hunt is set for April 13th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Preparations and planning for the Canterbury HOA Easter Egg Hunt are underway. Volunteers are needed to help plan the fun and assist with the games for the event so that all age groups will be able to enjoy the get together and egg hunt. Volunteers are also needed to help stuff prizes in all the eggs that will be hidden for the kids to find. The volunteers will get together in March to start stuffing eggs and planning the fun and games. If you are interested in volunteering to plan events or in assisting with the games on April 13th please con-tact Karen Mulberry at [email protected] or call on 303-904-0199.

Wellderly WeekMarch 18–24 They say age is nothing but a number, so don’t let those digits be an excuse for slowing down. Staying active and engaged is the key to healthy life regardless of your age. Encourage seniors in your family and com-munity to keep busy and move about. Help them find activities and resources to promote a greater sense of well-being.

Crime Stats in YOUR Neighborhood Ever wonder how many car break-ins occurred in Jefferson County recently? How many burglaries? The number of arrests made? Or the response time for deputies to answer calls in your neighborhood? We think about that all the time. Daily in fact, and that’s one of the reasons we record all of that information and make it available each quarter for you and your neighbors. Sheriff Shrader briefed the Jefferson County Colorado Government Board of Commissioners this week on the infor-mation. Here are this past quarter’s numbers: https://www.jeffco.us/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/398 Let us know what you think and what you’d like to see more of from us. —Jeffco.us

Lessons From a Successful Entrepreneur Mike Lindell is the inventor of MyPillow, a popular pillow brand, and CEO of a manufacturing company. He’s also a veteran entrepreneur, having run many successful businesses throughout his career. On the Small Business Trends website, he shares his tips for success: • Watch for deviations. Anything out of the ordinary can be a

sign—of problems or opportunities. Keep a close eye on what’s happening in your business so you can respond quickly.

• Learn from other people. Cultivate a wide network of col-leagues. Seek their advice—and listen to it. You can’t know everything, so outside counsel can help you keep up to speed.

• Get a lawyer. You have to have solid legal advice to avoid prob-lems. Consult with your attorney often, especially on employ-ment issues.

• Be willing to take chances. No entrepreneur succeeds by play-ing it safe 100 percent of the time. Assess your tolerance for risk and get comfortable taking (reasonable) chances.

• Listen to customers. Get feedback from the people you do busi-ness with, and use the information to strengthen your operations.

• Hire people with passion. You already have a passion for your brand. Hire employees who feel the same commitment to your industry and to helping customers.

• Communicate. Keep the lines of communication open with employees, customers, suppliers, and anyone else your business depends on.

• Treat people right. Employees want to feel valued. Customers do, too. Go out of your way to recognize good performance, and thank people for their support.
