Weve got some very exciting things to talk to you about today. But, before we start, I just wanted to give you a brief recap on what inspires us as a company.

We Speak Image is a mantra that we have adopted to symbolise the most important thing in photography the beauty of the image. All of our product development and the huge investments we make in new technologies and features is dedicated to one main thing, which is offering our customers class-leading performance. Over the decades weve been making imaging products, the drive to constantly improve has helped us develop a huge community of dedicated Canon users. Not only does that speak volume for the quality of our products , it also means that we are constantly being challenged by our customers to make things faster, lighter and better. Listening to those needs is something we invest a lot of time in - it helps us give our customers what they want, but it also gives us ideas regarding how we can challenge them to be even more creative in return.

In our 70 years of camera development, weve made some huge steps forward. Just in recent years alone, we surveyed over 5,000 photographers and used that insight to create the EOS 7D. Were constantly adding more creative shooting functions to our consumer range, and, late last year, we redefined professional performance with the launch of the revolutionary EOS-1D X a camera the professional community is very excited about.

However if there is one camera that stands out for many, it was the launch of the EOS 5D Mark II in 2008. That camera created a revolution in the DSLR sector with the addition of Full HD video, which, for many users, changed the perception of what a DSLR is capable of. While being a first-class stills camera, its full frame sensor and full HD video recording capability offered new, exciting possibilities for both photographers and professional videographers, to the extent that weve now seen it used in a range of world-famous TV programmes, such as House, and movies including Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger. In fact, the success of the EOS 5D Mark II was also the inspiration behind our new Cinema EOS series, which has had a fantastic response from professional video communities since its global launch last year.

Its fair to say that the EOS 5D Mark II is a living legend in our DSLR range. In fact, it was voted the best-ever camera by the readers of one EISA publication last year, and building on that performance was never going to be easy. Today, however, were delighted to introduce you to the next step on the EOS 5D-series journey

The EOS 5D Mark III is a significant addition to the EOS family.

We use the word addition, because this is not intended as a replacement for the EOS 5D Mark II. That is still a fantastic camera and is still incredibly popular with many users, so will continue in the range.

This creates our strongest-ever family of EOS products offering high quality performance, and extensive creative features, right through the range.
