M-POWERed through Outreachand EducationM-POWER focuses on increasing communityawareness of the benefits of early detection. To promote life skills for cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyles, thefollowing education lectures and programs provide innovative and interactive activities to individuals, community groups, and religiousinstitutions in and around the Tampa Bay area:

• Community Health Worker Training – A training program where community membersdevelop skills they can use to deliver cancereducation in their own communities

• Promoting Breast Health Among HaitianWomen – Raises awareness through culturallysensitive education in Haitian Creole; as well aslinks women to mammography screenings

• Witness Project® of Tampa Bay – A faith-basedbreast and cervical cancer education programwhere African American survivors “witness”their stories of triumph over cancer andemphasize the importance of screenings

• ¡Salud! Serie de charlas – A programpresented in Spanish to raise health awarenessin the Latino community

• Moffitt Healthy KIDZ Program – A joint effortwith libraries, Head Start programs, andschools that promotes healthy lifestyles andoffers cancer awareness education in a fun,family-friendly environment

• The EmpowerMENt Project – Focuses on men’shealth and early detection through the deliveryof health workshops

• Yo me cuido – A breast health educationproject for Latinas to promote mammographyutilization and early detection

• Health education workshops – A series ofworkshops concerning clinical trials, healthylifestyles, and specific cancers
