#1 - Member Relations
• New members• Invitations sent to 35 organizations• Directors will be following up with best
prospects• Suggestions are welcome
• Member retention• Follow/reminders will be circulated • Executive Director will make calls
#2 – Emergency Preparedness Planning
• Agri-Food Network to develop workplan for 2010 and beyond• Input will be sought from Coalition
members• Coalition will need to determine if it wants
to continue to co-chair this committee and if so, who will take on the task
#3 – National Strategy
• Strategy identified list actions for Coalition follow-up• 2.2 supply chain in a dialogue about mutual
recognition of industry-led food safety programs• 3.2 Define Canadian food safety auditor
requirements• 4.1 Review the demand for qualified food safety
personnel in the private sector • 5.1 Strengthen consistency of food safety training
on a national level.
• Directors & Members will need to set priorities & determine financing options
#4 – Government Relations
• Deepen contact with FPT Food Safety Committee (e.g. regular contacts, industry participation)
• Sustain contacts at CFIA, Health Canada & AAFC on the food safety files
• Strengthen relations with provinces/ territories
#5 - Issue Management
• Food & Consumer Safety Action Plan• FPT/National Food Safety Strategy• Amendments to Food & Drug Act (successor to
Bill C-51)• Follow-up on Weatherhill & House Subcommittee
