Cambodian Harvest
Our teammate Daren Beck being inducAssociate International Director o AC
“Therefore, I exhort theders among you, as your fellow
der and witness of the sufferings of
rist, and a partaker also of the gloryat is to be revealed, shepherd the flockGod among you, exercising oversightt under compulsion, but voluntarily, cording to the will of God; and not forrdid gain, but with eagerness;” (1 Peter–2, NASB95)As many of you know, I have servedan elder in Shalom Phnom Penhurch, a Khmer speaking fellowship, forout five years. Over the past few years,
e elders at Shalom Church have beencreasingly burdened with the needs ofr people. Through much prayer andunsel, Christiana and I decided that Iould offer to serve the church full timer the next 18 months, so that I mayve the privilege of working togetherth Pastor Chanthea and the other
ders, to shepherd the flock of Godmong us. Over the last several months,e’ve begun to pour over Scripture
gether and create a philosophy of min-ry to ensure that we are aligned withhat God wants the church to be.
The process of relaunching andstructuring a church is never withoutfficulty, but the Lord has seen fit toow us to see some fruit from our labor.
ne of the first changes the elders haveade is to institute official membership.e preached through a series on whathealthy church should look like and
then moved into a doctrinal series basedon the church’s statement of faith. OnFebruary 28th, the church welcomed its
first official members. While the bulk of my time is now usedin service to the local church, we haveredirected part of our translation effortsto create original Khmer resources basedon sermons and studies from ShalomChurch. This allows us to continue creat-ing valuable Christian resources, whilenot taking me away from my primaryrole as shepherd.
We know that human effort alone
cannot mature the church, so we prayfor God to work mightily in and throughus. We pray that the Lord would pourout His blessing, and that we would seethe church grow into a vital, joy-saturat-ed, disciple-making people, to the gloryof God. Please join us in praying for ourbeloved church family, Shalom, as youhave prayed so faithfully for us duringour six years in Cambodia. We also covetyour prayers for Christiana, the kids and
myself as we enter this new season ofministry. Thank you for your prayers onour behalf, your generous financial sup-port, and partnership in our ministry. Wecould not be here without it.
