“God’s Treasure Chest”
There is not a point that needs to be dwelt upon more
earnestly, repeated more frequently, or established more
firmly in the minds of all than the impossibility of fallen
man meriting anything by his own best good works.
Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Faith and Works, pg. 18.3

Pastor Marlene Rodriguez
Sabbath August 5, 2017
10:45 pm Worship Service: “Where is God in the Darkness?”
2:00 pm Session: "He Told Me Everything I Did"
About Marlene Rodriguez
Pastor Marlene Rodriguez was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, but immigrated to the
United States at an early age. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area with her two sisters
and one brother. Her parents were committed to their children receiving an Adventist
Christian education, though with limited means it was certainly a challenge. Marlene and her
siblings graduated from San Francisco Junior Academy as well as Monterey Bay Academy.
Marlene later would receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and International
Communication from Pacific Union College.
Marlene Rodriguez worked in a variety of settings and roles including as
translator/interpreter for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Spain, as an outreach worker
for a free clinic focusing on issues of AIDS and HIV, as U.S. citizenship outreach coordinator
helping immigrant families, as a social worker case manager working with over 50 families at a
local community center, and as a marketing coordinator for a boot company to name just a
few. These employment experiences have given her a great appreciation of service and what
it means to care for people.
In 2009, Marlene felt called to continue her education by enrolling in the Master of Divinity
program at San Francisco Theological Seminary in order to pursue a career in chaplain
ministries. She graduated with her masters in 2012 and subsequently completed four units of
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) after a one-year resident internship. It was during this time
that she felt God moving on her heart to explore pastoral ministry in a local church context. In
2013, she received the opportunity to serve as a volunteer pastor at the Pleasant Hill
Adventist Church working under the supervision of Dr. Jim Lorenz, who is currently the
ministerial director for the Northern California Conference. In 2017, Marlene felt God telling
her to become a member and volunteer at the Concord International Adventist Church, where
she currently serves as an associate pastor, alongside her husband and the lead Pastor Pedro
Trinidad.
Marlene Rodriguez is married to her best friend, Marc Woodson, an ordained minister who
currently serves as executive secretary for the Northern California Conference of Seventh-day
Adventists. Together they are raising "Ari" (short for Aristotle), their lovable 90-pound
Bernese Mountain-Dog.
