Call to WorshipRev. Jonathan Heifner
Sing praises to God, O you saints, and give thanks
to God’s holy name! We exalt you, O God, for you
have restored us to life! We may cry through the night, but
your joy comes with the morning. You hear us, O God, and you are
gracious in our distress. You turn our mourning
into dancing! Our souls cannot be silent! O God, our Savior, we give
thanks to you for ever!
Hymn of Praise to the Triune God We Are Called TFWS 2172
Come! Live in the light! Shine with the joy
and the love of the Lord! We are called to be light
for the kingdom, to live in the freedom

we are called to love tenderly,we are called to serve on another,
to walk humbly with God!
Come! Open your heart! Show your mercy
to all those in fear! We are called to be hope
for the hopeless so all hatred and blindness
will be no more! We are called to act with justice,
we are called to love tenderly,we are called to serve on another,
to walk humbly with God!

Sing! Sing a new song! Sing of that great day when all
will be one! God will reign,
and we’ll walk with each other as sisters and brothers
united in love! We are called to act with justice,
we are called to love tenderly,we are called to serve on another,
to walk humbly with God!
Opening Prayer
The Lord be with you.And also with you.
Let us pray.Gracious God,
there is much work to be done. Our eyes see injustice.
Our ears hear prejudice, arrogance, and hurt all around.
Our souls ache. How will you heal? Who will you send?
Is it me, Lord?Spirit of God, search us.Sharpen our hearing to
discern your call. This we pray, in your holy name.
Amen.

Gospel Lesson Matthew 9:35-10:1 (CEB)
Jesus traveled among all the cities and villages, teaching in
their synagogues, announcing the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness. Now when Jesus saw
the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were troubled and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his
disciples, “The size of the harvest is bigger than you can imagine, but there are few workers. Therefore, plead with the Lord of the harvest
to send out workers for his harvest.” He called his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean
spirits to throw them out and to heal every disease and every sickness.

TFWS 2009 (stanza 2)
Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favor may serve you as our king;
and whether our tomorrows be filled with good or ill,
we’ll triumph through our sorrows and rise to bless you still:
To marvel at your beauty and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise.

Sending Hymn The Summons TFWS 2130
Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never by the same?
Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be known, will you let me life be grown in
you and you in me?
Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer prayer in
you and you in me?
Will you let the blinded seeif I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean, and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean in you and you in me?
Will you love the “you” you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found
to reshape the world around, through my sight and touch and
sound in you and you in me?
Lord, your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In your company I’ll go where your love and
footsteps show. Thus I’ll move and live and grow
in you and you in me.
Blessing
