The significance of the

incorporation of CALL into

language learning and teaching

was noticed in 1983, during one of

the annual TESOL conferences

held in Toronto where more than

ten percent of presentations

concerned CALL and also some

software was demonstrated.

Advantages of CALL for Developing Reading Skills

Computers can present the text

in a variety of ways apart from a

plain printed one. The text can

be accompanied by animation

and sound which make both the

text and reading more

interesting.

written language, it requires

well developed reading skills to

be “surfed through”

In addition to quizzes, Whooo's Reading also offers standards aligned journal

activities for use in between quizzes and book recommendations upon completing

quizzes.

Context:

6th Grade students of English Literature Course

Students Can-Do:

Students can read the given literary text (Treasure Island)

Students will comprehend the content novel and answer some close ended and Open ended questions.

Further student will interpret the acquired knowledge by producing a brief text based on asked descriptive question.

Interpretive, Reading and Writing

Delivery Mode:

Asynchronous

Plan for Assessment:

Formative assessment plan is used as students receive delayed feedback after submitting responses of asked objective and subjective questions.

Computer with internet, Whooo’s Reading App, , Authentic online/Offline article

Time frame / Estimated time for completion:

30 - 35 minutes. Assigned one day, due the next week.
