The International Youth Exchange (YE) STDS will take placefrom the 16thtothe 21stof Septemberexcluding travel dates, in Olho, Portu!l.

This YE will gather"# p!rt$%$p!&tsfrom 6 %ou&tr$es, namely, 'os&$! !&()er*eo+$&!, ree%e, F-ROM.M!%e(o&$!, Pol!&(, Portu!l andSerb$!.

"top thinking a!out i#erences and mile" is an international youthexchange which percei$es as a main o!%ecti$e the creation of a space where

young people from di#erent European countries can share their knowledge(assumptions, facts, stereotypes), opinions and experiences a!out exualTransmitted iseases (T&s) and the discrimination exerted !y the societytowards people infected with T&s. This youth exchange intends to promote!oth 'ealth and i$ic Education.

lthough, one should expect that in the **I century, discrimination towardspeople infected with sexual transmitted diseases (T&s), would !e an issueof the past, it is still a ma%or concern in Europe. In +ortugal, the pre$alence of'I is of -,/ to -,0/, and its mortality rate of 11/ 2 13/, while thehepatitis 4 $irus represents the 5th cause for death for +ortuguese adults.The young people infected with chronic diseases face discrimination at manyle$els in +ortugal, such as medical, employment related and social.

E$en though the go$ernmental and non2go$ernmental organi6ations workhard to pre$ent the transmission of T&s, and promote and make accessi!leall information necessary, there is still a need to inform the generalpopulation, in order to promote awareness, comprehension, tolerance, anti2discrimination and social inclusion.

dopting an acti$e and healthy lifestyle are the !est way to pre$ent theoccurrence of such diseases, !ut creating an en$ironment of tolerance andunderstanding can also impro$e the cohesion of the society, promoting asense of community.
