The Story: Paris, 1915 - Three couples have accidentally been booked into the same hotel room, all with plenty to hide. Georges Feydeau’s elegantly complex play gets new life in this smart, seamless, and acutely funny translation by Peter Hall and Nicki Frei. All of Feydeu’s dramatic tricks come out to play as his characters are pulled back and forth through an elaborate plot before spinning into a surrealistic climax of complications. As the characters are pulled back and forth by an escalating series of complications, the sharp, natty, decorously vapid dialogue comes to life fast, elegant, and sassy, like a collection of cut-throat razors dancing the cancan.
