A Message from our Principal, Ms Pantelis

Presentation Day

On December 5th, the school will be hosting a Presentation Day. The K-2 Presentation Day Assembly will begin at 9:20am and the Presentation day Assembly for all students in Years 3-6 will begin at 1:00pm. Both events will be held in our school hall. K-2 students are required to wear mufti clothes. All of the K-2 students will be presenting a special grade item. Students in each grade have been asked to dress in certain clothes. Students in Years 3-6 must be dressed in full school uniform. Parents of students receiving an award will be sent an invitation by mail. Everyone is welcome to attend. We do ask that you only take photographs of your own child and be respectful of this if uploading onto any social media. We look forward to celebrating this special event with you.

Thank You Morning Tea One of the successful factors of our school is the ongoing support that we receive from our school community. As a small gesture of our appreciation, the staff would like to say thank you to all members of the school community who have assisted the school throughout the year. The morning tea is on Tuesday November 27th. It will begin at 11:10am and this year it will be held in the library. We hope to see you there!

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Annual Toys ‘n’ Tucker Donation Drive – Friday November 21st (Year 3) and Monday November 26th (Kinder – Year 2 and Years 4-6)

The Season of Giving is fast approaching. Please encourage your child to support this wonderful initiative. This year’s donation drive for toys and food is on Friday November 23 for the Year 3 students and on Monday 26th November 2018 for all other grades. All students who would like to donate a new toy or Christmas food are asked to bring their donation to school on these days.

School Emblem (Repeated) There have been a number of versions of our school emblem over the years. We have worked closely with the P&C throughout the year to make some slight modifications to ensure it was uniform across the school. At this week’s P&C meeting, our school community endorsed the following version. In this version, the figure has changed from a man to a young child. The fish have evolved into a more sophisticated shape that is symbolic of fish found in the local Burraneer Bay

area. The overall design, colour and shape have remained the same. 2018 Year Book Orders The Year Book is a celebration of the many activities that all students from K-6 are involved in throughout the year. This year’s Year Book is outstanding. The 125th Anniversary celebrations are shared throughout. It is a wonderful keepsake for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. All of our students love to reflect on their favourite moments throughout the year.

The Combined Scripture Assembly for students in K-2 and 3-6 is on Tuesday 27th November.

We would like to thank all of our Scripture Teachers and Ethics volunteers for the great work and service they have given to the children throughout 2018. Your efforts are very much appreciated. Students who have attended Ethics and Non Scripture classes this year will not be attending the Combined Assembly.

Remember to save the date All our parent helpers and volunteers are invited to attend our Parent Thank You Morning tea on Tuesday 27th November at 11.10am in the library.

Term 4 Invoices This term we have been regularly sending home invoices with all outstanding expenses listed. We ask

that all these invoices and any outstanding amounts from earlier in the year be paid by 30 November 2018 at the latest.

SPOTLIGHTING: Year 4 Waterslea Camp.

Year 4 students returned very excited from their Waterslea Camp yesterday afternoon. They enjoyed participating in the wide range of fun filled activities and loved all the challenges that the camp had to offer. They had the “best time ever”.

Thank you to all the Year 4 parents for supporting this wonderful initiative. We know that it is often very difficult sending your child off on an overnight excursion.

Thank you to all the staff who attended and gave up their personal time to ensure the children had such a rewarding experience.

We were advised today that one of our students returned from camp with a tick. Please ensure you check your child.

Year 5 Excursion to the Justice and Police Museum

Last Thursday Year 5 really enjoyed their excursion to the Justice and Police Museum at Circular Quay. They learnt that more than 15 people were held in a cell that was only the size of a very small bedroom for up to three days. They saw a room that stored about 80 weapons. They watched a black and white film about Captain Thunderbolt who was a kind bushranger. They participated in a mock trial in the courtroom and learnt a lot about bushrangers.

Help us Upgrade our School Oval

We need your help to give our much loved school oval an upgrade. We are hoping to have a running track around the perimeter that is made of synthetic grass and natural grass in the middle. Various school and P&C Fundraising initiatives in 2018 have focussed on raising funds to support the upgrade of our school oval. Voluntary School Contributions, the Cook Classic Raffle and the Jersey Day have helped a bit but we still have a long way to go. The money raised from the Colour Run will also be used to support the upgrade.

To date, we have $4200 from Voluntary School Contributions, $5139 from the Cook Classic and $580 from our Jersey Day.

Voluntary Contributions can still be paid at the school office by cheque, cash, online POP payment or

Eftpos The voluntary contribution in 2018 is $ 80 per single student or $140 per family with two or more children at the school.

We need $2o0 000 We have $9919
