CALAVERA  Part  2  

Transferring  your  Illustrator  tracing  back  on  to  your  black  and  white  

selfie  in  Photoshop.  

Step  1:  IN  PHOTOSHOP,    open  a  new  US  Paper  size  document.  

Step  2:    Open  the  folder  where  you  saved  your  selfie,  and  drag  the  file  into  the  new  Photshop  document.  

Step  3:    Resize  the  image  so  it  fills  the  document.  HOLD  THE  SHIFT  KEY    and  drag  from  the  CORNERS  ONLY.  

Step  4:    Press  Return.  

Step  5:    Control  and  click  on  the  selfie  layer.  Click  on  Rasterize  Layer.  

Step  6:    Open  your  tracing  in  Illustrator.  Make  sure  the  layer  with  the  scan  is  locked  or  hidden.  Go  to  Select  -­‐>  All  

Step  7:    Go  to  Edit  -­‐>  Copy.  

Step  8:    In  PHOTOSHOP,  go  to  Edit  -­‐>  Paste  

Step  9:    Click  on  Pixels  and  click  OK.  

Step  10:    Resize  and  rotate  the  tracing  as  needed,  so  that  it  fits  your  selfie.  HOLD  THE  SHIFT  KEY  WHEN  RESIZING.  

Step  10:    Press  Return.  

Step  11:    Click  on  the  selfie  layer.  Delete  the  white  background  with  the  magic  wand  tool.  

Step  11:    Use  images  from  the  internet  to  create  a  Dias  de  los  Muertos  inspired  background.    Do  not  just  copy  and  paste  one  image  and  call  it  a  day.  Construct  your  own  image  using  pieces  of  images  you  find  on  the  internet.    Think:  marigolds,  papel  picado,  candles,  sugar  skulls,  etc.
