CCB Suffers Another LossOn Friday evening, April 20, 2018, Maniac Mikes Café caught fire around 6 PM. The result was a destroyed kitchen, a severely smoke damaged eating area, a very smoky pilot's lounge and a closed business. The cause of the fire is under investigation though signs are pointing to a refrigerator compressor failure as the likely source of ignition. Luckily, Maniac Mikes was closed for business at the time and no customers or employees were inside. And no firefighters were injured in the process of putting out the fire. Maniac Mike family members wasted no time in picking up the pieces and beginning the rebuilding process. They look forward to re-opening the Café as quickly as possible and taking advantage of the opportunity to make needed and desired improvements with the rebuild. The Stewart family, along with the Cable family, want to assure its customers the Café will return as soon as possible bigger and better than ever!

HANGAR INSPECTIONSAs many of you know, hangar inspections are well under way; unfortunately, only about one-third of the hangars passed inspection on the first go around. For those hangars that didn't pass inspection, by far the most common violations were: fire extinguishers that are not currently certified, storage/clutter in front of the electrical panel (which needs to be clear regardless of whether the power is on or not), the permanent use of extension cords, compressed gas cylinders that were not properly secured (this includes bar-be-cue propane tanks that are not in their designated places). The inspector found a wide variety of other safety hazards including excess storage of fuel (anything over 10 gallons is not allowed within a hangar), so much clutter that the inspector couldn't get to the back of the hangar, trash/oily rag accumulation, and modifications to hangar electrical systems that far exceed the original electrical specifications.Over the years, we have experienced a number of fires here at CCB, They are most always accidental and can cause significant damage to your and your neighbor's belongings. And, in an emergency, anything can happen. The best way for us to be prepared and help reduce the threat of fire is to make sure the space we are responsible for is clean and tidy enough to help prevent fires from starting and/or spreading.

Do we have your current insurance? The Airport Office periodically updates the insurance information of our tenants. Insurance companies for many of our tenants automatically send us a copy of Certificates of Insurance when any change is made to the policy particularly when the policy renews. If you hear from the Airport Office about your insurance, then there is a good chance you have not listed Cable Airport as an "additionally insured" on your insurance policy. This is the mechanism that triggers automatic notification. Your insurance company should be willing to list Cable for no additional cost. Also, this saves you and the Airport Office time and energy getting the required certificates of insurance. It is important to remember the insurance requirement within your lease is to protect you as well as the Airport. For the most part, the Airport accepts the insurance you have on your airplane for the insurance requirement. If you do not have insurance on your airplane, then you will need to purchase a general liability policy to meet the insurance requirements.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Airport Office. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Green Light Given for Apron Rehab ProjectAfter waiting patiently, on Thursday, April 19th, CCB received the approval from the FAA to go out to bid on the Apron Rehab Project that will see the old T-hangars east of the parking lot disappear. Ironically, the approval came the very day after Bob Cable visited the FAA offices to inquire about our project. As of now, CCB has received its environmental approvals which included a sign-off from the State about the historical significance, or lack of historical significance, of the hangars to be demolished. This sign-off was part of the original delay. The next steps are to issue the bid proposal, wait the required time for responses, evaluate the bids, and make an award. Our goal is to have awarded the bid by July 1, 2018.In the mean time, staff will continue to work with the architects and engineers planning the construction of the large maintenance hangar CCB got from Rialto.
