MESSAGE
Message:
C. U. Shah Medical College is by now 18 years old with established
UG and PG courses. The college started in the year 2000 and was
recognized by MCI for UG in 2005. Since, then it has progressed by
leaps and bounds. P.G. Courses are being run in almost all subjects
with almost all of them recognized by MCI & Govt. of India
The campus. "C.U. SHAH AROGYADHAM" is fast transforming
itself into an educational hub with UG & PG courses in
Physiotherapy, Course of Bachelor in Audiology & Speech
Language Pathology and many more.
The whole credit for envisaging and executing this
enormous philanthropic activity goes to Late Sri C. U. Shah Sahib
whose contributions, financially and otherwise, in developing many
Institutions all over India are well known. He left us for his heavenly
abode in January 2013 but his spiritual presence guides us through.
I am sure that with the dedicated efforts of the
management and administration team, this Institution will attain
new heights of achievements and will become an ICON of
education and healthcare.

❖ The College is built within a space of 321007 sq.m. in a plot
of 33 acres, congruent).
❖ The college houses all pre & para clinical departments
with all infrastructural facilities including central library
with air-conditioned reading hall, blood bank, MEU
centre, 4 lecture halls (3 of 120 each and 1 of 250
capacity), Auditorium to seat 750 (all with audio-visual
facilities) and examination hall to seat 300 etc.
❖ C. U Shah Medical College, Surendranagar, in the
sprawling, beautiful campus of C.U. Shah Arogyadham,
was established in the year 2000. The institution is run and
managed by Saurashtra Medical Centre, a charitable
trust of more than 30 years standing with dedicated motto
of providing the Healthcare and Education at affordable
costs to the backward district of Surendranagar on a “No
Profit-No loss” Basis. The trust was heralded by Shri C.U.
Shah, a well-known philanthropist who had contributed
widely & generously for the development of educational
& Healthcare institutions, all over India.
❖ This institution is the best example of transition from a small
TB hospital before 30 years to a fully-fledged institution
with more than 500 beds with all modern amenities like
State of art ICUs, CT scan, MRI, Digital X-ray, Color
Doppler, TMT, facilities for endoscopic surgeries, on line
suction and oxygen and many more. Medical Council of
India and Government of India recognized 100 seats per
year of this institution for imparting medical education at
undergraduate level (MBBS) in 2005.

Education plays a vital role in the

there is a premium on both quantity
(increased access) and quality
(relevance and excellence of
academic programmes offered) of
higher education. The NAAC has been
set up to facilitate the volunteering

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an
organisation that assesses and accredits higher education

C. U. Shah Medical College is one of the few Medical College

The college is affiliated to Saurashtra University, Kalavad Road,
Rajkot.
Saurashtra University, established
on 23rd May, 1967, is situated in
Rajkot city of the Saurashtra region
of Gujarat State. The campus of
the University is spread over 360
acres of land. The jurisdiction of
the University includes Amreli,
Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar,
Rajkot, Surendranagar, Morbi, Gir
Somnath and Dwarka districts. It
has 28 Post graduate Departments
on its campus and 297 affiliated
colleges.
The academic performance of students of C. U. Shah Medical
college, from the very first day is exemplary. The results are always
comparable or even better than the other 2 Medical institutions
affiliated to the same University and many meritorious positions are
occupied by the students of this institution.

C. U. Shah Hospital Hospital: The teaching hospital viz: C.U. Shah Medical College & Hospital is also
run by the same trust which runs the medical college.
In year 2018, ‘Centenary birth year of Shri. C. U. Shah Sir’, inaugurate new multi-
storey hospital building was done in esteem presence of Hon. Chief Minister,
Gujarat Shri. Vijaybhai Rupani and Hon. Deputy Chief Minister, Gujarat Shri.
Nitinbhai Patel on 13th May.
New Hospital building is equipped with latest medical facilities and equipment.
Cardiac unit of hospital also inaugurated on same day.

MBBS seats will be filled up by centralized single window state common
counseling by the Admission Committee for Professional Under Graduate
Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) Ahmedabad, Gujarat and it is the final
authority to give the admission.
Merit list shall be prepared on the basis of All India Overall rank of the
candidates who found eligible in NEET of current academic year.
Eligibility Criteria: (for details refer The Gujarat Professional Medical
Educational Courses (Regulation of Admission in Undergraduate
Courses)(Amendment) Rules, 2018:
• Be a Citizen of India or Overseas citizen of India
• Have completed 17 years of age on the 31st December of
current academic year.

Infrastructure and technology is augmented to facilitate class room teaching-
learning process. Classrooms are equipped with laptops, LCD projectors,
pointers and audio system to facilitate learning.

E-learning facility
Broad band internet facility is provided in every department and central
library.
E-library is made available to students and faculty to browse various journals
and books.
MEU
The Medical Education Unit is the gem of the institute. It
is a place for faculty enrichment programs. The
requirement for training of teachers is increasing day by
day. The institute has up to the mark MEU with 40 persons
training capacity at a time.
Skill Lab
The skills lab will be an important milestone in development of competencies
in Indian Medical Graduate (IMG). The students will practice and develop skills
in a simulated environment in the skills lab which will help them during internship
and beyond to mitigate the difficult cases arising during their posting and
duties. Skills training lab has been established according to the guidelines of
Competency Based Medical Education (CBME).
Council Hall
Where the faculty meet to decide and devise the academic plans and where
the VIPs and VVIPs are welcomed and briefed about the Institution, with state
of art facilities like cord less projection and audio system, computer facilities
etc. This hall has witnessed frequent GUEST LECTURES and ACADEMIC MEETS
and TRAINING SESSIONS.
Regular meetings of COLLEGE COUNCIL, ETHICS COMMITTEE, P.G. COMMITTEE,
MEDICAL EDUCATION UNIT, PHARMACO-VIGILANCE COMMITTEE, PHARMACY
COMMITTEE, INFECTION CONTROL COMMITTEE ETC are held here.
Auditorium
A modern auditorium which can house more than
750 people equipped with all modern amenities like
ultra-modern, high fidelity sound system, lcd
projection, video projection , spacious stage & green
rooms etc.

Accommodation
The institute provides separate boys, girls, interns and resident hostels. Round
the clock mess services are available for the students and staff.
There are separate quarters to accommodate the staff of the college and
hospital. The campus also houses an animal house, mortuary, work-shop and
an incinerator. Outdoor and indoor games facilities are also available in the
campus.
Canteen & Mess
Every hostel has a mess of its own providing high quality, nutritionally rich food
of the inmates. The common student & staff canteen provides various snacks,
lunch and dinner. The patients’ food is also prepared by the canteen under
the supervision of a dietician.
Student nurture
Institution is arranging sessions on the development
of Personality and communication skills periodically
by outsourcing the faculty. In previous years we
had organize and support the camps of “Art of
Living” group.
Women cell and anti-ragging committee looks
into the matters of conduct and discipline
Sports, cultural and literature committee organize
annual programs (like Utsav, Garba).
Main purpose of all these initiative is to make the
students socially compatible and mentally strong.
Mentors shall be appointed to attend to attitudinal
issues, language problem and adaptation
problems.
Wardens/ Student grievance cell/ Anti-ragging
committee attend to the adaptation problems.
Counsellor will be appointed to counsel and guide
the students.

Play ground
Facilities for outdoor games like Basket ball,
Volley ball, Football, Cricket, etc. and indoor
games like Badminton, Table tennis, Chess etc
also available in the campus.
Intra class and inter class competitions are held
frequently to encourage the students in extra-
curricular activities.
The students also participate in various inter-
college competitions and have won many laurels.
The best faculties
The institute has well
qualified human resource to meet the requirements
of the curriculum. The senior faculties form the pool
of knowledge and experience which provide
momentum to the young and energetic faculties of
the institute.
Appointment of faculty is made for the required post
as per the criteria of MCI.
Faculty is trained through Medical Education
Technology programme for computer-aided
teaching/learning methods.
Computers and internet facilities are available in
departments.
The technical, administrative and paramedical staff is also recruited to meet
the academic requirements during practical, setup multimedia before
lecture etc.
Promotion of Research works.....
Students are encouraged to take up research
projects and present/publish them in the scientific
conferences/journals.
Academic Committee meeting is held regularly to
reforms and revision of curriculum, changes in
teaching methodology, examination

reviewed by institutional scientific review committee and ethical committee
regularly.
Discipline
Ragging
Ragging is not acceptable behaviour on the campuses of the C. U. Shah
Medical College. It is illegal according to the Law of the land to commit,
participate in, abet or propagate “ragging”. The institution has form anti-
ragging committee which deals firmly and strictly with all instances of ragging.
If any incident/s of ragging comes to the notice of the committee, the
concerned student/s will be given liberty to explain. If the explanation is not
satisfactory, the authorities will take strict action against the student.
Possession of Illicit Drugs, Alcohol and Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in public areas and on the
campuses of the college. Students should not consume
or serve alcohol on any occasion within the campuses of
college. Forcing a fellow student to consume alcohol
would be grounds for severe disciplinary action.
Possession or use of banned drugs will result in expulsion
from the college.
