World Vision 40 Hour Famine We invite you and your child to become part of the World Vision 40 Hour Famine weekend on 8-10th June. Cotswold children will be raising money for the Northern Uganda, providing essentials such as nutritious food and clean water, places to live, education and hope for a better future. Children who are 8 or older are invited to participate in the World Vision 20 or 40 hour famine. This year the theme is ‘Standing United with the children of South Sudan’. Thousands of young lives have been affected by conflict, drought and famine in South Sudan. Children have had to flee for their lives across the border to Uganda, becoming refugees. They have travelled a long distance, many without parents or families. Get involved for a great cause! We will be handing out booklets and wrist bands early this term. There are many challenges you can participate in – no talking, no technology, no furniture, only eating rice, putting your ‘life in a bag’ for the weekend. Please see Mrs Sandford in Room 24 with any questions.

Will you accept the challenge?

Entertainment Book We are raising funds for purchasing heat pumps for each classroom and you can help. Order the NEW 2018 | 2019 Entertainment Book or Entertainment Digital Membership and you will receive hundreds of valuable offers for everything you love to do, PLUS, order now to receive over $200 of bonus Early Bird Offers (hurry, limited numbers and these sell out quickly). https://www.entertainmentbook.co.nz/orderbooks/134n148 **Books will be in stock next week, if you've already ordered; it will be sent home with your nominated child** Disco The disco is on Friday the 11th of May. This disco has no set theme, but children are most welcome to dress-up if they wish too. The junior disco (years 0-3) is from 6pm-7pm at a cost of $3 a ticket The senior disco (years 4-6) is from 7.30pm until 9pm at a cost of $4 a ticket Parents can also purchase tickets for pre-schoolers so they can have access to the drinks and chips. Tickets will go on sale that morning at the canteen window from 8.30-9am (door ticket sales will also be available). We have a variety of “glowing” products on offer and these are from $2 each and will be sold at the disco only (not in the morning as we do not want the children to be playing with them in class).

Please do not bring your own Glow Sticks with you. In previous years we have had incidents where they have broken and the liquid inside has stained the hall floors.

We are also looking for parent help on the evening. Sometimes the hall gets very hot and we open some of the doors for fresh air. Therefore we require parent help to be security guards on the doors so no children can leave unattended. If you can help out at either or both of the discos, please ring Helen on 021 277 1117, thank you.

Parents and Caregivers please note that we do not let any children leave the school hall by themselves. Please do not wait in cars outside the school gates for your child to come to you. Each child must be collected from the school hall doors by a caregiver. We also do not provide child care between the junior and senior discos, we use that half an hour from 7pm until 7.30pm to clean up and prepare for the next disco. Please wait with any children outside until the doors open at 7.30pm. Stuck on You Please check out https://www.stuckonyou.nz/affiliate/fundraiser/COTSWOLDSCHOOL We will be receiving a percentage of sales through this link. It's an opportune time with the new school uniform to order some clothing name labels so those uniforms, if lost, can make their way back to their owner!

EZ Covers Check out www.ezcovers.com We have signed up to receive a % of sales, so if you're interested in making your children's exercise books look smart and are tired of the drama of Duraseal then check them out!

Next Meeting This will be held on Tuesday the 29th of May. Located in the school staffroom in the office block. We start at 7.30pm, and generally finish around 9pm. Everyone is most welcome to come along - all major roles (ie President, Treasurer and Secretary) within the committee have been finalised so there is no pressure whatsoever to take on a huge responsibility, we don't assign jobs unless you volunteer and there is no need to join the committee, everyone is most welcome to sit in and see what we do! We are currently looking for support people to add to a list of “extra helpers” (for events such as discos, sausage sizzles and pizza lunches). If you feel you can contribute some of your time there is a sign up form at the school office where we can get your details and email if we are short on helpers for events.

Children are allowed to bring their own road legal bicycle to school along with their standards-approved cycle helmet and make use of the bike track during morning interval and lunch time. Please note:

It is a parent’s responsibility to check their child’s bike is road legal and safe, that the child has a standards-approved cycle helmet, that the helmet is adjusted correctly and know how to put the helmet on, secure it and also take it off.

Students may not cycle in the school grounds during school hours (other than on the cycle track during morning interval and lunch time.)

Students must place their cycles in the cycle stands, or beside the cycle stands which are currently located towards the school entrance off Martbern Crescent.

Students can also make use of the bikes and helmets that have been donated to our school. If you don’t want your child riding a bike please let your teacher know, or click here.

A reminder that all property brought to school by students is the responsibility of those students.
