At this point, all of our students should have brought home interim progress reports for your review. Please make sure to review these documents with your child(ren). In addition, feel free to contact your child(ren)’s teacher if any questions remain. Now’s the time to make a great push to finish the 1 st quarter strong. Congratulations to Mary V. in Kindergarten for being selected as the kindergarten student of the week. As a result, she received two tickets to attend the Miami Dolphins game against the Cleveland Browns. Congratulations to Mary and her family for receiving this honor! Each grade level will be selecting students of the week to attend future Miami Dolphin games. We will be looking for students demonstrating our STAR expectations. We would like to send a special thanks to the Florida Department of Health and staff for the free dental screenings and cleanings afforded to our students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. This was a great success. We would like welcome Ms. Martine Joseph, 1 st Grade Teacher, back who will be replacing Ms. Noel. Ms. Noel is an aspiring teacher who has served very well in this position. We wish Ms. Noel all the best in her future endeavors. We would also like to welcome Ms. Alisa Loray, Kindergarten Teacher and Ms. Alyssa Jean as our new Resource Teacher.

TITLE 1 PARENT LETTER OF DISSEMINATION

• School Improvement Plan (SIP): School staff and parents jointly develop the plan. It includes yearly

objectives and activities that will be implemented at the school level. If translation is needed, please contact Eyvonda Cooper-Moye.

• School Parent Involvement Plan: School staff and parents jointly develop the plan as part of the School Improvement Plan. The plan includes the parent activities to be implemented through the school year and an evaluation of last year’s parent program. In addition, the Florida Department of Education publishes school grades and the results of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Tests (FCAT). • Principal Attestation Letter: Indicates the percentage of teachers and paraprofessionals that are highly qualified.

VOLUNTEER NEWS

Volunteers MUST reapply every school year. Parents are encouraged to complete a Volunteer Application online at: www.getinvolvedineducation.com

Volunteer placement is based on the need of the school. Any parent/guardian that plans to attend school-wide field trips MUST be an approved volunteer. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Judith Ras is Markham’s Volunteer Coordinator and can be reached at (754) 322-6950.

CAFETERIA NEWS

Effective October 4, 2016, all students must pay $2.00 for lunch unless approved for Free or Reduced Price Meal Benefits. Online application can be completed at www.myschoolapps.com. Information you give is safe and is only used to determine your child’s eligibility for this benefit.
