Schools are back in session in Hardin County with chil- dren settling into new classes with great teachers and re- newing friendships with class- mates. We are very blessed in Hardin County with a great school system! Most parents and students are relieved to have schools back in person after the virtual learning at home last year. Brenda McNeil of Jackson visited me on Friday. We dropped by to see Dorothy Foster at her Pinhook Drive home in the afternoon. Doro- thy and Brenda’s mother, the late Elsie Austin, spent many years together. Five days each week at Brown Shoe Factory in manufacturing and again on Sundays in worship at Eu- reka Methodist Church where they worked with children and served the community. Dorothy shared many happy memories with Brenda of her and Elsie’s work and play. I was very honored to listen and laugh along with the two friends. I returned to Jackson with Brenda and spent Saturday night in her and Gerald’s home. Brenda had tickets for us to attend a concert at Williams Auditorium in Henderson that night. Gerald and Brenda have attended Mike Walker concerts several times and this year he was glad I could accompany her while he relaxed at home. Mike Walker is from the Jackson area, but he has lived in Branson, Mo. for several years where he headlined at one of the music theaters Thursday. He and the band presented a great show for a large crowd. Sunday morning I was a guest of the McNeils at Malesus Baptist Church for worship services. The lovely church building is located on Highway 18 very near the McNeil’s home. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Catfish Cabin before returning to the house where Gerald gave me a golf cart tour of his beautiful flowering gardens. Crepe Myr- tles, Hydrangeas, and various blossoms shone throughout the spacious gardens. Gerald and Brenda drove me home and I felt truly blessed by the short trip.
