1. Captain’s Comments 

a. Crime statistics for Southwest Division (Year to Date) 

i. Burglaries: 180 in 2015, 128 in 2016 

ii. Grand Theft Autos: 160 in 2015, 153 in 2016 

iii. Thefts: 423 in 2015, 366 in 2016 

iv. Vehicle Break‐Ins: 201 in 2015, 252 in 2016 

1. Please lock your car and do not leave items inside of it 

b. We had a two week period with a very high rate of shootings (22 shootings, 10 

people hit, 1 homicide) but in the week since then we have only have 3 shootings 

with 1 person hit. 

i. The person who was hit was at Hauser and Adams, the individual was 

tagging a wall in a gang neighborhood was shot. 

c. We have had 7 homicides so far this year, 6 have been solved. 

i. The 1 unsolved one was a 17‐year‐old male who was shot at the 

Crenshaw and Vernon. The police have significant leads and feel that it 

will be solved soon. 

2. Basic Car Reports 

a. Baldwin Village: Only a couple of small crimes and those were at the mall. 

b. West Adams: Crime is down, but there has been an uptick in break‐ins on the 

east side, near Jefferson.
