Dear Friends of KiDiMu,

It has been just over a year since I joined the Board of Directors at Kids Discovery Museum, and I have fallen in love with its mission and programs. Bainbridge Island and the broader Puget Sound area are fortunate to enjoy the resources KiDiMu brings to families.

Serving on the KiDiMu Board has been a wonderfully meaningful w

as a former educator and grandparent – to see children empowered and excited to take charge of their learning.

The past year has been a busy one for our Board, Staff and Volunteers, as we worked together to move KiDiMu into its next stage of developmentcommunity and our region.

I am also pleased to share that we now truly have a permanent home for early learning on Bainbridge Island. Thanks to the generosity of visionary donors, KiDiMu now owns its building outright.

• Conducted the first Board and Staff Retreat, at which we began a review of the Museum’s mission, vision and values, and used the process to reinforce the trust between Board and Staff fundamental

• Adopted new mission and vision statements.

• Developed a five-year Fundraising Plan designed to enhance the Museum’s capacity to increase

• Successfully undertook a financial review and an overhaul of procedures to assure high quality

• Held two new events establishing KiDiMu, and Oktoberfest - a fall fundraiser to celebrate the power of play.

• Launched two fundraising programs – Monthly Giving and Business Memberships – to seek

Not many remember that KiDiMu’s LEED© certified facility is its third location. Opening in the Packard building on Madison Avenue, the Museum soon needed more space to keep up with visitor demand. A capital campaign was launched and KiDiMu moved to temporary headquarters on Madrone Lane, as the community broke ground for the Museum’s permanent home. In June of 2010, KiDiMu reopened in its present Island Gateway location.
