“Mentor” was the name of the man to whom Ulysses entrusted the care of his son, Telemachus, when he set out on his 20 year journey known as “The Odyssey”.
A brother put in his resignation within just 2 years of his joining a Lodge & when questioned why he put in his resignation….
This is what he had to say……
Look at the key points from his
statement:
Didn’t really know what he was joining
Not sure what the first night was all about
Did not manage any visits to other Lodges
Confused when asked to leave the
next meeting (2nd or 3rd degree?) Felt embarrassed with his lack of
knowledge Became a Master Mason without
understanding the ceremonies Asked to Join Chapter, again,
without any understanding
“Does any of this happen in my Lodge?”
If we are truthful with ourselves, we may not like the answer.
Ask your Lodge Secretary for some Lodge statistics.
How many new members were initiated between 24 months previous to today's date and 12 months previous to today's date?
How many of those members attend the lodge on a regular basis, today?
