Homeless  There are Over 18,000 Homeless People in Metro Detroit  Of those 18,000, 30% are chronically homeless and 25% are children. Nearly half of the homeless population in Detroit are families.  Homeless get some of their food from soup kitchens some people line up to get a bed in a shelter, but have to leave the next morning.
