MECHANICS GENERAl GUIDELINES

Theme: "Pinoy Alc:o: Exploring the Filipino Identity amidst Diversity"

1. RegiStration wilt start at 12:00 NN and will end at2:00 PM on March 02. 2019. 2. A registration fee of Php 650 will be charged for each parlicipant and coach in the event. The registrat1on fee will cover the food, lodging, and other operofing expenses of the participants. 3. Participants must be bono fide junior high school students. 4. All participants ore requested to come on time. A 20-minute grace period will be given for the participants. Beyond the grace period, late porllciponts will nol be entertained anymore and outoma!icolly be disquohficd from the event untess there is a valid excuse. 5, The participating students in all contested oclivlties ore strictly required to be in !heir proper school uniform during the contest proper. &. Each student is allowed to participate in only one (1) individual category. 7. No contestant in the individual rounds will be allowed to leave the room unless accompanied by the proctor. 8. Complaints shall be directed to the Chairman of the Boord of Judges. '1. A perpetual trophy will be given to !he team which ranked first for three (3) consecutive years. 10. Medals, certificates. and cosh prizes will be given to the winners in the individual colegones. The 2nd Runner Up will receive Php 500, I st Runner Up will receive Php 750 and the champion will receive Php 1 ,000. 1 f. Trophies, medals. certificates. ond cosh prizes will be given to the Quiz Contest winners. lhe 2nd Runner Up wifl receive Php 1000. I st Runner Up will receive Php 2000 and the champion will receive Php 3.000. Best performing teams or the overall winner; wffl be chosen based on their performances on all categories. 12. 14. All entries will be considered properly of !he organization that they represent (e.g. Entries of the participants from Quezon will be considered property of UP Oroquieto).

QUIZ CONTEST

1. General Guidelines a. A team must hove at most three (3) members and con hove one (1) substitute (optional} . Only one {1) team is a llowed per school.

b. The Qufz Contest shall cover the following fields: Mathematics Social Science

Trivia General Information Arts and uterature General Science

c. Substitution shall be aUowed at the start o f each round. d. Clarifications will be acknowledged after the quizmoster gives the correct answer for that question. Clarifications will be addressed to the Boord of Judges. The judges' decision will be final and irrevocable.

e. Misspelled answers will be considered wrong. For mathematics, answers with no units or with false units will also be considered wrong. For other categories. proper capitalization o f names and proper nouns must be observed and scientific names must be underlined.

r. Sixty {601 seconds will be given to answer Mathematical questions and thirty {30) seconds for other fields stated in l .b . The timer will start only after the second reading ot the question. Answers must be written on the answer sheet provided and must be submitted to the proctor before the allotted lime.

g . The team will be a llowed to answer the question after the quizmoster says, "Timer starts now.· If anyone violates, their proctor will raise his/her hand and a warning will be given. For the second violation. their proctor will again raise his/her hand and the team will be d isqualified for that question. h. The Quiz Contest shall hove three (3] phases namely: the Elimination Phase, the Pre-final Phase, and the Final Phose.

2. Elimination Phase a. The Elimination Phase consists of three (3) rounds- Easy. Average and Difficult having 15, I 0,

and 5 questions. respectively. b. The point system shall be:
