About Croatia…Croatia is a small European

country. The capital is Zagreb. It has about 4 million inhabitants. The official language is Croatian. The national flag has three stripes in red, white and blue with a coat of arms in the middle. The national anthem is Lijepa naša domovino. The president of Croatia is Kolinda Grabar Kitarović.

The capital…Zagreb is the largest Croatian

city. It has about 1 million inhabitants. The name Zagreb was mentioned for the first time in 1094. Zagreb is situated between the river Sava and the mountain Medvednica. It has a lot of interesting monuments: the Cathedral, the Upper Town, the National Theater and many others. Tourists also visit many museums and parks such as Zrinjevac, Maksimir and Jarun.

Some other cities…Split is the second

largest Croatian city situated on Adriatic coast. Dubrovnik, Zadar and Šibenik are some other cities in Dalmatia. Rijeka is the largest horbour. Osijek, Varaždin, Čakovec and Vukovar are cities in the continental part of Croatia.

Natural beauties…Croatia has beautiful

nature: mountains, rivers, lakes and the sea. There are 8 national parks (I visited 4 of them). Plitvice lakes are protected by UNESCO. There are many animals and plants and some of them are protected like Velebitska degenija.

The Adriatic sea…Croatia is special

because it has a beautiful coast on the Adriatic sea. It is clean and blue. There are over of 1000 islands in Croatia. The best known are Krk, Hvar, Brač, Korčula and Kornati. I realy like Vis.

The food…Croatian food is really

delicious and varied. The specialties are štrukli in the region of Zagorje, turkey with mlinci in Zagreb and fish in Dalmatia. For desert there are orehnjača or rožata.

My Croatia…I like Croatia because I

was born here. I like its cities, mountains, rivers… I like the museums, theaters, parks and playgrounds… I also like its people, especially my family and friends…

I like everything about my country!!!!!!!
