• The Navajo call themselves Dine, which means “ The People”.
• The Navajo are also the largest tribe of North American Indians.
NAVAJO HOMES
• A hogan is the traditional Navajo home.• This is an eight sided house made of wood and
covered in mud.• The door faces the east to welcome the sun
each morning.
NAVAJO LIFE
• The Navajo learned farming techniques from the Pueblo people, growing mainly corn, beans, and squash.
NAVAJO ANIMALS
• The Navajo were influenced by the Spanish to begin herding sheep and goats.
• The Navajo depended on these animals for food and trade.
SILVERSMITHING
• Silversmithing is an important art form among the Navajo.
• This includes items such as necklaces, bracelets, and tobacco flask.
NAVAJO WEAVING
• The Navajo learned to weave on upright looms from the Pueblos.
• Navajos would sale and trade their blankets.

CONCLUSION
• The Navajo were very resourceful people who learned to live off the land, how to make jewelry and weave, and in return they could sale and trade these items for money or other goods.
