Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Officially known by the name Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, this airport is of great importance in Europe. It is an international airport found in the Netherlands and is located twenty minutes from Amsterdam city and approximately nine miles south-west of the center of Amsterdam in Haarlemmermeer municipality. This is an international airport connecting to many notable European airports. It is the home base for many intercontinental airlines such as KLM, Arkefly, Transavia, Amsterdam Airlines and Martinir. The name of the airport, Schiphol, was derived from a former fortification called Fort Schiphol which was part of the Stelling van Amsterdam defense works. Before 1852 there was a large lake at the Haarlemmermeer polder where the airport now lies. The shallow waters of the lake would often experience sudden violent storms which claimed many ships. Indeed this was the reason why the lake was reclaimed. Schiphol translates to ‘Ship grave’ in English, referring to the many ships that were lost in the area.

Munich Airport in Germany is one of Europe’s busiest and most popular airports. The Bavarian capital attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year, who come to see the ancient buildings and art collections, attend the wonderful Christmas market and revel in the Oktober Fest beer festival celebrations. Munich Airport covers a large number of destinations. Flight arrivals include Warsaw, Düsseldorf, Seoul, Oslo, Sofia, Dresden and Hamburg, Istanbul and Barcelona. The two passenger terminals and the Munich Airport Centre provide a large number of services, facilities and amenities for passengers arriving and departing - there are airport tours, a visitor’s terrace and an airport souvenir shop for a start, where waiting passengers can while away their time, not to mention the many cafes, bars and restaurants, shops and bakeries!

Incheon International Airport

I have spent 10 and 4. 5 hour layovers here. ICN well deserves its consistently high ratings. The Free WiFi is great, the staff all speak English, and the cultural experience centers are amazing. The highlight of this airport, for long layovers, is the Rest and Relax area. There are several around the airport, with loungers for sleeping, modular couches, etc. The snack bars there are even open late. For a fee you can get a massage, too. It's really an amazing airport. Landside there is a cool transit center with art for sale and everything. I really enjoyed my time at this airport and would not mind connecting through here again if I can't fly direct.
