But what if you are born in a squatter camp?
What kind of future do you have?
Township children have to overcome incredible odds to make it out with an education. Daily concerns over nourishment, transport and security and having to study at night in very poor lighting conditions, makes it very difficult.
Our vision at Solar Buddy Foundation is to see each child have their own “Buddy“, their own light in the darkness. We may not be able to feed all the children or keep them safe in their most precarious situation, but we can most definitely help them to help themselves, get out of the kasi and bring about a brighter future for all.
The consequences of paraffin & candle use are dire and self perpetuating:
• Lung irritant.
• Respiratory infections
• Paraffin poisoning
• Burns
• Shack Fires
•‘Decreased study time
• Entrenched poverty
Solar Buddy becomes a critical resource in helping make educationpossible in very difficult circumstances. A durable lantern that is
waterproof and runs off the suns rays with a battery life of 5 years, isthe perfect study companion.
