What’s the difference? What’s the difference? Business Continuity Planning
– Process of developing advanced arrangements and procedures that enable an organization to respond to an event in such a manner that critical business functions continue without adverse interruption. (Proactive)
Disaster Recovery Planning
– Defines the resources, actions, tasks and data required to manage the business recovery process in the event of a business interruption. The plan is designed to assist in restoring the business process within the stated disaster recovery goals. (Prepares you to respond reactively)

Various SolutionsVarious Solutions Software
– None (no planning, no recovery)
– Word Processor (basic functionality, but does not provide automated updating)
– PC Based Planning Software (provides planning content & generation, automatic formatting and importing, but confined to one PC)
– Enterprise Planning Software (same as above, but resources can be shared by several individuals)
– Storage Management (provides the capability to manage backup and recovery if you have multiple storage devices and backup options)
– Virtual Machine software (provisions several operating systems onto one server)
