P&C AGM The P&C AGM is on Tuesday 8 November at 7:30pm. All positions of president, vice president, secretary and treas- urer will be declared vacant and will be voted on by current P&C members. Class coordinators and fundraising roles will not be determined till next year. SRC Meeting & Student Leadership On Friday 4 November at 11.20am there is a Student Rep- resentative Council meeting. Parents are invited to attend our SRC meeting and witness our students taking part in such a valuable democratic process. We are starting our leadership process for 2017 and or- ganising our year 5 students to assume the various leader- ship positions offered at our school. This week the current year 6 students spoke to the year 5 students about the roles that are offered as part of the year 6 leadership team and will act as mentors to show year 5 students what each leadership role will involve. We look forward to working closely with the year 5s embarking on their leadership jour- ney. Toilet & Playground Upgrade You may have noticed the boys toilets inside and out have been painted and upgraded this week. The girls toilets will undergo the same transformation next week. At the same time we have our first new demountable site being pre- pared, ready for the delivery of the classroom this term. Our sheds will be moved this term and another demounta- ble will be located in their position in preparation for our increased numbers and classes next year. If you are aware that your child will not be returning to Manly Vale Public School next year could you please notify the office as soon as possible. Mrs Lee Returns Thank you for your support during the week. Mrs Lee will return from her long service leave on Monday. Late applications will not be accepted. If your child is in year 5 this year and is intend- ing to apply you must return the purple slip to the office requesting an information booklet. You can then follow the procedures outlined and apply online. Picnic Day All new 2017 kindergarten parents and carers are invited to attend our annual picnic and play date to be hosted at Manly Dam on Wednesday 16 November, 10:00am – 12:00pm. The meeting place will be near the toilet block and the school banner will be on display at the picnic ta- bles. Please bring snacks and drinks. This is the culmina- tion to our kindergarten orientation program and is a love- ly opportunity for our new students to meet each other and play together in an unstructured environment. Par- ents and carers will be able to chat informally and get to know one another. Uniform Shop As you are aware the end of the year and beginning of the new school year are always very busy times. Now is per- fect timing to purchase or order new items from the uni- form shop so that you beat the rush next year. Helen Gay and a team of diligent volunteers open the uniform shop at various times but are happy to receive emails on man- [email protected] to assist with orders and queries. Thank you Helen and the uniform shop team for all your work to run the uniform shop so smoothly. Community Help At Manly Vale Public School we are very fortunate to have such a caring and supportive community. There are school procedures that must be followed in certain events. Parents and caregivers are not allowed to take students to or from school without parent or school authorisation. If you see a Manly Vale student distressed, requiring help or asking for transport please bring them to the office for clarification. This would greatly help the school and follow the correct procedures set out by the Department of Edu- cation. RELIEVING PRINCIPALS REPORT:

Band Performances Warringah Mall Last Thursday our junior and senior bands performed at Warringah Mall. Both bands performed three of their rehearsed pieces and the audience was suitably impressed with the improvement in all our individual band members. The time on Band Tour has certainly assisted in the senior band’s ability to perform in front of a live audience. Congratulations to all band mem-bers and special thanks to Misa and Ben for their tui-tion and instruction for this performance. Thank you to Miss Kirsty Hall and Ms Sally Fisk for their diligence and commitment to helping the band.
