Bursting in Air is a one-of-a-kind event for the Hyattsville CDC. We’re looking to go over the top with our participatory arts engagement, and our public performances. Our friends at the Art Lives Here partnership asked us to bring a placemaking event to fruition, and here’s how we responded: with your help, from 3pm to 8pm today, our artists will transform the Hyattsville Route One Overpass into a captivating landmark through the making of public art and festivities that commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the end of the War of 1812. Take a walk around and in every direction (even up!) you’ll see why downtown Hyattsville and the Gateway Arts District are becoming a must-visit destination for art lovers in Prince George’s County and beyond. In this guide, you’ll find our schedule of artists, a list of vending small businesses, local supporting organizations and artists/artisans, coupons to area businesses, community announcements, and the latest Hyattsville Dining Guide. But that’s not all--please visit our Welcome Table to enter a give-away raffle to win a gift certificate to a local small business.
A special thank you goes out to our sponsors for their long standing, generous support. We are honored to partner with organizations and artists to bring this arts happening to the community. We want everyone who calls Hyattsville home to find it a great place to enjoy the arts in all their forms. We also hope our new visitors will find us a destination worth coming to again and again. To learn more about our organization, sponsors, or the Gateway Arts District, please visit with the friendly staff of the Hyattsville CDC at the Welcome Table. And most important of all: buy some art you like, take a taste of Hyattsville’s many cuisines, and have a great time today!
