Term 3 Week 9 - 20th September 2018

Latest P&C News

Thanks to all who came along to last week’s P&C meeting. Planning for our upcoming Spring Fair was a hot topic of conversation, with plenty of activity already going on behind the scenes to make this a successful fund-raising event for our school community.

Our 150 year pavers have arrived and they look fantastic - we’ll keep you posted on progress of having them installed.

Mrs Lloyd gave the P&C an update about what has been an extremely busy and productive Term 3 - it’s great to see our students representing us so well across our region at events such as District Arts, Debating, Cultural Perspectives Public Speaking and the recent Spelling Bee. A huge thank you also to Mrs Donaldson, BPS teaching staff, parents and students for going all out for this year’s Book Week - a lot of fun was had by all.

At the meeting the P&C agreed to bring forward the delivery of the first stage of our 150th Year Technology Pack purchase (LED screens, laptops and storage) to facilitate the upgrade of existing equipment that needs replacing sooner than anticipated. We’ll publish more information about this in coming weeks once the purchase is finalised and also give an update on our current fundraising tally.

Finally, the P&C watched an interesting video from the Fair Funding Now campaign - which seeks to put pres-sure on the Federal Government to ensure that ALL schools in Australia receive fair and equitable funding to support our children. A petition supporting the Fair Funding Now campaign was circulated and signed by our P&C representatives. If you are interested in finding out more about the Fair Funding Now initiative or signing their petition to show your support, visit www.fairfundingnow.org.au

Have you started your Spring Fair ‘stand-in photo booth’ design yet?

We know that Bungendore is home to some of the most creative, colourful and talented kids in all of Australia… so expectations are running high for our Spring Fair ‘stand-in photo booth’ design competition! Notes about the competition went home with students last week, calling for original designs for our commemorative stand-in pho-to booth for our school’s 150th Anniversary Spring Fair!!! The idea is that everyone who attends the Fair can have a personalised photo with our very own Fuzzy Mac and have a lasting keepsake from what is sure to be a terrific day.

The design must include:

1. Fuzzy Mac

2. The Spring Fair logo

3. Cutouts for faces

Entry is by gold coin donation along with your completed hand drawn A4 size page submission. The winner will receive $30 worth of Bungendore Bucks to spend at the Spring Fair. Please return your entry to the school front office by Friday 28th September 2018. Good luck to all our artists - the winner will be announced in the first week of Term 4.

Getting to know the P&C

Natalie Blake, P&C Hall Representative

How long have you been living in Bungendore? We moved here from Sydney almost 5

years ago.

What is the best thing about Bungers? There are so many great things about Bungendore it's hard to choose one - it's gotta be the bacon though haha! I love being part of this community and seeing the way people come together to support each other and the many worthy causes in this wonderful town. What is the best school event you have attended so far? I really enjoyed the Grandparents Day / K-2 sports day last year, that was lots of fun. How many kids do you have at BPS? Both of my children attend BPS - Ruby is in Year 1 and Louis is in Kindy

Favourite movie / TV series: I've just finished watching the TV series The Crown, which was very interesting.

Favourite book: The best book I've read in the last year would be Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne, it's full of great ideas.

Favourite food: A big fry-up on a Sunday morning, especially with Bungers Bacon and fresh local eggs.

Tricks and hacks that will make life easier and fun

Take a photo on your phone of every birthday party invite/ school note that comes home. You’ll then have ready access to dates/times/addresses - and you’ll be easily able to send copies to other parents and family members.

Joke of the week

How do you stop an astronaut’s baby from crying? You rocket!

Uniform Shop - Volunteers needed

The Uniform Shop will be open this Friday 21st September from 2.45-3.30pm. This is the last time we’ll be open for Term 3, so come on down if you need new supplies.

In Term 4 the Uniform Shop will return to opening each Friday to meet the demands of the changing season and all the new orders from incoming Kindy 2019 students. Lindsay and team could really use some more volunteers - so if you are a Mum, Dad, Grandparent or carer who can spare 45 mins every couple of weeks to lend a hand we’d love to hear from you. The Uniform team is super friendly and volunteering is a fun and easy way to meet new people and do your bit to support our school. Email [email protected] for more info.
