NINE TEAMS READY TO COMPETE AT MEN’S CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN LANGLEY
LANGLEY, Canada, September 22, 2013.- A total of nine teams will try to clinch a berth to the FIVB Grand Champions Cup when they play the Norceca Men’s Continental Championship that begins on Monday at the Langley Events Centre.
The competing delegations participated at the Preliminary Inquiry session and also were presented at the General Technical Meeting. Some of the teams look for the regional supremacy but at the same time there are others that want to develop their young players and improve on the confederation ranking.

Bahamas Head Coach, Raymond Wilson: “We see a team doing much better. We want to be very competitive. We have some veteran players with an average age of 25 years old, but also we have two 16 year old players on the team and we are trying to give them the chance to prepare and gain experience.”
Canada Head Coach, Glenn Hoag: “This is a very important event for us, because we are at home and we expect to conclude a pretty good summer. We expect to more volleyball in Canada and hope to do it very well and play our best in this event. The World League was a very great volleyball experience and we’ve tried to build the team to this competition to get ready to qualify and to get progression.”
Cuba Head Coach, Rodolfo Sánchez: “I think this will be a beautiful experience. Team is OK and our guys are excited to get on the court. This is also a great opportunity for me to be with the senior team. It’s also my first competition at the máximum level in volleyball. I hope to get the besto of it and gain a good experience.”
Dominican Republic Head Coach, Osiel Vazquez: “The Norceca Championship is very important. In our country we are trying to improve our position in the Confederation rankins. We are bringing an U23 team that will also compete at the Age Group World Championship in Brazil and that team is at 90 per cent here.”
Guatemala Coach, Reider Lucas Mora: “Our main objective is to get out to the court and give our best here, because it will help us to improve our ranking in Norceca as well as to have the chance to get one of the six places in this zone for the Central American and Caribbean Games and we also want to give a chance to our youngest players.”
Mexico Coach, Sergio Hernandez: “We have the wish to continue with the preparation for the World League qualifying contest. We also expect to have a good performance and continue to improve as a team. This competition is also great to see who of our young player have the chances to be part of the Senior Team and explore the possibilities to extend our roster.”
Puerto Rico Coach, David Aleman: “Obviously the first tournament we had officially was the Pan American Cup in Mexico City and that helped us to evaluate many things. We have some changes in our roster and we hope to get in to the best four of the tournament. All matches are difficult, and so We must be mentally prepared and we will look to win our Pool”.
Saint Lucia Head Coach, Joao Carlos “Cafe” Campos: “This competition is very important for us because is an opportunity to be at the international level. We also have the purpose of popularize volleyball in Saint Lucia to reach kids and schools. I love challenges and I feel honored to be with this team and playing against the best of the region is a motivation in this job.”
USA Head Coach, John Speraw: “We are excited to get started. We haven’t had the opportunity to compete very much this summer, so the chance to come up here and play the number of great teams that are in this tournament is a great opportunity for us.”
LISTOS LOS NUEVE EQUIPOS QUE COMPETIRÁN EN EL CAMPEONATO CONTINENTAL MASCULINO EN LANGLEY
LANGLEY, Canada, Septiembre 22, 2013.- Un total de nueve equipos buscarán un boleto a la Gran Copa de Campeones de la FIVB cuando jueguen el Campeonato Continental Varonil de la Confederación Norceca.
Las delegaciones participaron en la Entrevista Preliminar al igual que en la Junta Técnica General. Algunos de los equipos buscarán la supremacía regional , pero al mismo tiempo hay otros que quieren también desarrollar a sus jugadores jóvenes y mejorar en el ranking.

Raymond Wilson, Coach de Bahamas:
“Veo un equipo en mejoría, queremos ser muy competitivos. Tenemos algunos jugadores veteranos con un promedio de 25 años, pero también traemos a dos jóvenes de 16 años en el equipo y estamos tratando de que tengan la oportunidad de prepararse y ganar experiencia”.
Glenn Hoag, Coach de Canadá: “Es un evento muy importante para nosotros por que estamos en casa y esperamos concluir el que ha sido un buen verano de competencia. Queremos promover más el voleibol en Canadá y esperamos que nos vaya muy bien, además de jugar de la mejor manera en el torneo. La Liga Mundial fue una gran experiencia para nosotros y nos hemos dado a la tarea de preparar el equipo para esta competencia, estar listos para calificar e ir progresando”.
Rodolfo Sánchez, Coach de Cuba: “Va a ser una experiencia muy bonita. El equipo se encuentra bien y los muchachos están ansiosos por ingresar a la cancha. Es una gran oportunidad para mí al estar con el equipo mayor y es mi primera competencia dirigiendo en el máximo nivel de voleibol, espero aprovecharlo al máximo y ganar experiencia”.
Osiel Vázquez, Coach de República Dominicana: “El torneo Norceca es muy importante y para nuestro país fundamentalmente estamos tratando de mejorar en el ranking de la zona. Traemos un equipo Sub 23 que la próxima semana se va al mundial de la categoría en Brasil y lo tenemos a un 90 por ciento aquí.”
John Speraw, Coach de EEUU: “Estamos emocionados por iniciar este torneo. No habíamos tenido la oportunidad de competir previamente este verano, así que aprovecharemos el hecho de presentarnos aquí, enfrentarnos a muy buenos equipos y es algo muy bueno para nosotros”.
Lucas Mora, Coach de Guatemala: “El objetivo fundamental de nuestro equipo es tratar de salir lo mejor posible por que nos ayudaría a mejorar el ranking de Norceca, además de que estamos luchando por una de las seis plazas que da esta área para los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, y darle oportunidad a nuestros jugadores jovenes”
Sergio Hernández, Coach de México: “Venimos con los deseos de continuar con la preparación para el repechaje rumbo a la Liga Mundial, esperamos hacer un buen papel y tener una continuidad en ascenso. También aprovechamos la competencia para ver las posibilidades de ampliar nuestra plantilla probando a jugadores jóvenes con el equipo mayor.”
David Alemán, Coach de Puerto Rico: “Obviamente el primer torneo que tuvimos fue la Copa Panamericana en Ciudad de México. Ahora venimos con unos cambios en el personal y esperamos meternos dentro de los primeros cuatro. Todos los partidos son difíciles, tenemos que prepararnos mentalmente y buscaremos ganar nuestro grupo”.
Joao Carlos “Cafe” Campos, Coach de Santa Lucía: “Esta competencia para nosotros es muy importante y obedece a una intención de popularizar el voleibol en Santa Lucía, que llegue a los niños a las escuelas y que tenga una mayor presencia en nuestro país. Me gustan los desafíos. Para mí es un honor llegar con esta selección y jugar ante las grandes potencias de la región y es parte de un trabajo que nos motiva.
