BGC Asphalt recently completed works extending the Turquoise Way Trail at Jurien Bay, 226km north of Perth. The trail offers spectacular views of the Indian Ocean coast and is a highly popular route for walkers and cyclists alike.
BGCAsphalt’sHazelmereplantproduced1,200tonnesofredasphalt,whichwasdeliveredtoJurienBaybyBGCTransport,andlaidforthepath’s6.7kmextension.
BGC Asphalt General Manager Craig Hollingsworth said the project demonstrated the division’s versatility to deliver on diverse work scopes, from small regional projects to major highway improvements.

BGC Contracting has been awarded a five-year contract extension, valued at more than $720 million, with Onesteel Manufacturing Pty Ltd (Arrium) at its Iron Knob and South Middleback Ranges iron ore projects close to Whyalla in South Australia.
ThecontractextensionwillseeBGCContractingprovideafullrangeofminingservicesthroughto2022.
BGCContractingCEOGregHeylensaidthecontractextensionwasasignificantvoteofconfidenceintheprojectandreflectedwellonthecollaborativerelationshipbetweenthetwocompaniesoverthepastfouryears.
“Through the various challenges posed by the decline in the iron ore price and the administration of Onesteel as a whole, we have maintained a strong relationship with Arrium,” Greg said.
“The breadth and vertical integration of our services has enabled us to improve efficiencies and continue to meet Arrium’s safety and production targets during a difficult time.”Arrium’sprojectsprovidelumpandfineproductsinternationallytotheworld’ssteelmarkets.

ThenewfacilityisdueforcompletioninJune2018andwillinclude145beds,aspecialdementiacareunitandacafé.

The five-star luxury Westin Hotel at the 480 Hay Street Precinct in Perth has recently reached a significant construction milestone, with all glass façade panels on the main tower now installed.
Morethan1,850glasspanelswereinstalledonthehotel,whichisduetoopeninearly2018.
BGCDevelopmentandBPiarebuildingthehotel,whichwilloffer368rooms,aninfinitypool,ballroom,conferencefacilities,dayspa,gymnasiumandasignaturerestaurantintheheritage-listedHibernianHall,whichisbeingrefurbished.
BGCDryMix,adivisionofBGCCement,hasdevelopedanewrangeoftechnicalpre-baggeddrymixproducts,includingShrinkageCompensatedGrouts,PatchMortarsandFloorUnderlay,tomeetthespecificconstructionrequirementsfortheproject.
TheproductrangehasalsobeenusedacrossotherBGCcommercialprojectsincludingtheAloftHoteland25RoweinRivervale.

The luxury 4.5-star Aloft Hotel has opened its doors to guests in Perth, marking the Australian debut of the international Aloft brand.

BGC Precast has recently established a new stressing bed to manufacture prestressed bridge beams to supply BGC Contracting and other contractors on Water Corporation’s Bridge Replacement Program.
ThisfollowsBGCContractingbeingawardedtwocontractswithWaterCorporationtoreplacefivebridgesinWesternAustralia’sSouthWestregion.
BGCContractingsawanopportunityfortheBGCGrouptobuildcapabilityandworkedwithBGCPrecasttoestablishthenewstressingbed.
