Strategy Impact Crime Reduction Units (13 police officers per district)
• Provides direct support to front line and major crime units
• Focused, but flexible mandate to address unfolding and serious crime
Crime Analysts (two civilian members per district)
• Helps identify crime trends in communities • Increases effectiveness in targeting repeat
and chronic offenders
Community Program Officers (three civilian members per district)
• Establishes valuable link with communities • Delivery of programs for vulnerable sectors • Reduces youth crime and victimization by
working closely with young people
A Strategic Approach
Strategy Impact Alternate Response Units (three police officers and three public service employees per district)
• Diversion of non-emergency calls away from the front line
• Increase in client satisfaction • Standardizes call management processes
Power shifts (every four days)
• Focus on proactive and street crime investigations, as well as crime prevention and reduction
Alignment of boundaries with new RSCs • Provides enhanced collaboration on policing services in their area
