Building 16 and 17 are inside a common environment

with building 153, 162, 18, 173 and 256

• Building 16 is used mainly by PH DT, but also LHCb and some other scattered users (e.g. CLOUD, ATLAS )

• Building 17 is used by AB and PH (1st floor)

• Building 153 is used by PH/DT (assembly hall)

• Building 162 is used by AB and PH (mechanical workshop)

• Building 173 is used by AGEIS, CMS and PH/DT

• Building 256 is used by PH/DT (gas calibration lab, renovated in 2009/10)

In 16 and 17 we have mainly offices with few labs and one meeting room. In 153, 162 and 173 we have labs with workshop and assembly area.

This area is sharing a 40 tones crane and the whole building complex is served by a single heating system and it is an open volume, so noise is shared by all users.

Building 16 : ground floor and first floor need 2 each.

Building 17: ground floor, first floor and 2nd floor need 2 each.

Total 10 evacuation lamps.

Reparation of almost destroyed water pipes connections (cf picture 1 on following page)

Consolidation of cracks on walls due to crane movement and revision for the maximum load for the crane ( three major cracks identified – two on first floor bldg 16 and one on ground floor of Bldg 16.) the major one is more than 2 meters long and open almost 5 mm!!! Cf pictures7 to 10 on following slides.

General problems for Building 16, 17, 153, 162 and 173

• Heating is actually performed by a very old system. Cf picture 4

• Regularly out of order, not efficient and very noisy.

• But very big volume to heat (16, 17 and 153 and 162) and the insulation of the buildings should be reviewed in parallel

• Noise: from heating and heat treatment activity (power supply)

• Cf report at the end

• Water leaks from the roof

• Asbestos dust should be checked

• Bad smell from waste water

Noise measurement report
