    exports on behalf of Simco Group and also for the role in thecreation of BUFT.The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT, Mr. MuzafU. Siddique, Managing Dircetor, Simco Group is one of t

    pioneers in the Garment Sector of Bangladesh. He has a grecontribution for the creation and development of BUFT. He still giving relentless efforts for building BUFT as a centre

    excellence in fashion, textile and RMG education.Mr. Siddique has done his graduation and post graduation fro

    the University of Dhaka in Finance Department in the ye1975.

    Apart from a successful entrepreneur, Mr. Siddique has beassociated with many social organizations such as Dhaka CluGolf Club, Gulshan Club, Uttara Club. He is a donor member

    Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) and life member the Dhaka University Finance Alumni Association.

    Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic signed a memorandum of understanding

    (MoU) with the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), Bangladesh, to

    promote and strengthen collaboration with BUFT in the field of apparel, fashion & textile

    education for the Bangladeshs apparel industry. BUFT and Liberec University agreed to

    cooperate to develop academic, professional & cultural exchange of students, faculty and

    research staff, curriculum, product & design development, credit transfer, joint exhibition

    and other activities between two universities. The signing ceremony took place at the

    Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, organized by BWTG, BEST Program of

    the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

    Before signing the MoU, Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of

    BUFT gave a presentation and expressed his willingness to strengthen education and

    research collaboration between BUFT and Technical University of Liberec. He invited

    Vice-Rector of Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic to visit BUFT,

    Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor (designate) of BUFT

    gave Power Point presentation on the overall activities of BUFT.

    Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT and Ing. Jana

    Drasorova, Ph.D, Vice-Rector of Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, signed

    the MoU on behalf of their Universities. Commerce Secretary, GOB, Mr. Md. Ghulam

    Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan joined BGMEA University of Fashand Technology, Dhaka on November 1, 2012 as its Pro- Vice ChanceBefore joining as Pro-Vice Chancellor, he was the Principal of BIFT fr

    March 15, 2012.

    He is a renowned Textile Engineer turned educationist having 25 year

    experience in teaching, educational planning and management, educaand industrial consultancy, project management, research, process, prod

    and technology development.Professor Khan did his B. Sc. in Textile Engineering from the Universit

    Dhaka, M.Sc. and Ph.D. from University of Manchester, UK in the sfield.Professor Khan served in the textile industry (BEXIMCO group, J.K groetc.) of the country in various positions such as General Manager of texmills. Then he left the industry for the purpose of dissemination of tex

    education. He served in various universities including AhsanuUniversity of Science and Technology, Primeasia University, SouthUniversity etc., as a faculty member, Professor and Head of the departmof Textile Engineering.

    He received the fellowship of the Textile Institute, UK which is a honour for a textile professional.

    Professor Dr. Syed Masud Husain joined as the first Vice Chancellor BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) on July 1, 2012.He is a selection grade Professor in the Department of Accounting

    Information Systems of University of Dhaka. He joined Dhaka Universias a lecturer on 14th January 1976 after completing Masters Degree in thyear 1975.

    He stood first in the SSC Examination of Commerce Group in the ye1967 and was awarded Presidential Gold Medal. He completed HSC froDhaka Government College in 1969. All through his academic career, h

    was placed in the first division/class. He also earned a degree in Law 1977 from Dhaka University and a PhD from Banaras Hindu Universiin the year 1983 under the Government of India Scholarship. He becameProfessor in the same department in 1992 at the age of 39. Later he wawarded the prestigious Senior Fulbright Fellowship of US government

    complete Post-Doctoral research from Cornell University, USA.

    The Inaugural Ceremony of the Fashion Mood BoardExhibition-2012, the first of its kind in Bangladeshorganized by the students of 092 batch of Fashion

    Design & Technology (FDT) Dept. of BGMEAUniversity of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) was heldat 10:30 am on 16th September 2012 at the GalleryPrakriti, Uttara, Dhaka.

    Mood Boards are for the benefit of the designer,design team, and the client to make sure that they allunderstand the desired direction of the project beforemaking solid choices for the layout and picking exactcolors or other elements of the desi n.

    She was born and brought up in village Vanua,Gazipur Cantonment Joydebpur. She did her SSC

    from Savar Cantonment Board High School in theyear 2006 in Business Studies and HSC from

    Mofazzal-Momena Chakladar Mohila College atSaver in the year 2008. Her father Molla

    Mohammad Aftab Uddin is a service holder andmother is a house wife.

    She grew up in a very cultural environment. Shealways loved fashion trend. Mainly fashion is her

    passion. So, finally she chose BUFT as her careergoal. She believes, BUFT is the best renownedUniversity for RMG related education. Fashion

    Design & Technology is her passion and shewants to build up her career as a renowned

    fashion designer and serve in the RMG sector.

    BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and the Yellow, Bangladeshs premier fashionbrand, a division of BEXIMCO Bangladesh jointly organized a workshop on `New Age Fashion &Life style and a `Fashion Show on 6th October, 2012 in BUFT auditorium, Uttara, Dhaka. The

    purpose of this event was to promote awareness about international fashion and creativity amongthe students that will help build their own fashion style, personality and a confident image for theircorporate and personal lives.

    Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor graced the event as the chief guest and deliveredspeech to the audience. Mr. Emad Munif and Ms. Adela, designers of Yellow were the keynotespeakers in the workshop. Ms. Adela Rodriguez, Mr. Emad Munif, Ms. Rusmita Alam, Head of FDTDept. of BUFT and famous Model Ms. Ruma were present in the judges panel for the Fashioncompetition. Students of 091 batch of FDT Dept. Mohammed Piash Ahmed and 102 batch FatamaTuz Zahara Mitu were awarded best Models for male and female category in this fashion showcompetition.

    Introductory speech was given by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor of BUFT.Mr. Shehryar Burney, Executive Director of Corporate Strategy and Mr. Ijlar Razi, GeneralManager, Yellow, BEXIMCO handed over a crest to the Vice Chancellor in recognition forcooperation and support in organizing the gala event.

    A colorful cultural program was also held by two band groups `Lamp Post and `Metalogy. Ms. Rusmita Alam, Head of the department of Fashion Design & Technology (FDT), Registrar, Facultymembers, Officials & Students of BUFT and other foreign delegates were also present in theceremony.

    Ching Weng Chowdhury, ID 091-25-101 and Rayed Barkat, ID 091-25-130 the students of Fashion DesignTechnology (FDT) department of batch 091 of the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) havebeen awarded with the 1st place & 2nd place in a graphic design competition -2012. The competition was

    jointly organized by TESCO and Interstoff Asia Essential of Bangladesh.

    Total 80 students of 091 -FDT-1 and 091 -FDT-2 of BUFT participated in this competition.

    Workshop on

    National

    Performance

    Cluster for

    Apparel &

    Textiles

    This workshop helped in gaining knowledge about clustering strategy and how the three technical centers of BUFT, NITTRAD, iART launched bBGMEA, BTMA and BKMEA could provide the coordinated technical, innovating and competitive cost effective demand driven services to thapparel and textile industries.The workshop was presided over by Mr. Muzaffar U Siddique, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT who strongly recommended and

    emphasized the importance of creating a Cluster Board in Bangladesh to develop a National Performance Cluster.Dr. Lynne Hammond, International Expert from the London College of Fashion was the keynote speaker and explained the definition, principle an

    benefits of clustering. She focused how Turkey used clustering for their fashion/apparel business growth. The Bangladesh Ready Made Garmen

    Sector has undergone dramatic changes over the last few years but needed to adopt an agile approach to fashion supply chains.

    The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUFT, Mr. David Holbourne, Chief Technical Advisor

    UNIDO, Mr. Shameem Ahmed, Vice Chairman of BKMEA and also members of UNIDO-BEST Program, representatives from government &non-government organizations, entrepreneurs from mid and high level RMG units, Registrar, faculty members and admin officials of BUFT.

    jointly organized a one-dworkshop on Developmof National Performance

    Cluster held on Septemb17, Wednesday at BUFTUttara, Dhaka. This one-workshop provided the

    opportunity for dialogue discussion to explore howclustering strategy can beused to improve the

    competitive advantage ofApparel Sector inBan ladesh.

    A seminar was jointly organized by BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT)and UNIDO, BWTG-BEST Programme & EU/NORAD at the BUFT auditorium on July 14,2012 on Integrated Management System: Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and

    Corporate Social Responsibility and `Trend and Innovations for Ready Made Garments.

    Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) graced the seminar the chief guest. He expressed his satisfaction about the quality education at BUFT and hoped that this great university can perform the biresponsibility of fostering RMG education in the country.

    Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT as the special guest stated that the aim of the BUFT is to develop as a centre oexcellence for producing technically competent human resources through higher education, research and development to serve the nation. He also sathat BUFT will always help bring about the changes to sustain our national growth.

    Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT presented a BUFT crest to the chief guest. The program started with a welcomaddress given by Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor, BUFT. He welcomed everyone and commented on the BUFTs potenti al

    contribute in many ways to the RMG sector. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor, BUFT.

    Prof. Dr. Marie Louise Klotz, President, Rhine-Well University, Germany and Prof. Rudlof Haug, Dean, Dept. of Textile & Clothing TechnologNiederrhein University of Applied Science, Germany delivered the key note presentations. They emphasized the importance of using integratmanagement system to develop the RMG sector. They also mentioned that introduction of standardized time system during all manufacturin

    processes, international standard designs (ISD) are also important to improve efficiency, quality, environment, health and productivity.

    The seminar attracted many foreign delegates and representatives from UNIDO, EU and faculty members from other universities. The seminar walso attended by Mr. David Holbourne, Chief Technical Adviser, BEST Programme /UNIDO, Ms. Munira Rahman, National Coordinator, BES

    Aseminar was held at BUFT on 11 t September, 2012 organized by BGMEA University ofFashion & Technology (BUFT) on JapaneseIssues of New FTA. All the faculty members of BUFT were present. Renowned Japanese Professor Mr. Nobuto IWATA, Ph.D, Professor ofInternational Trade and Director of WTO Research Centre in Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan was the key note speaker who

    addressed on different aspects of Japanese Issues of New FTA.After the seminar, the Japanese speaker met the Chairman, Board of Trustees of BUFT Mr. Muzaffar U Siddique. Mr. Siddique presented a

    flower bouquet to Prof. Nobuto IWATA and Dr. Laila Arjuman Ara, Associate Professor, Southeast University. He discussed about variousacademic issues including possibility of cooperation between the two universities. Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor of BUFT

    gave warm welcome and briefed about the overall activities of BUFT. He introduced Prof. Nobuto to all who were present in the seminar. Theseminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Engr.     MoU between BUFT and American & Efird (BD) Ltd.

    The BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and the

    American & Efird (BG) Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding(MoU) of cooperation to develop academic activities, provide necessarysewing threads, renovate design studio, award for best performingstudent, product design development and others activities between two

    organizations on 12th August, 2012.

    The signing ceremony took place at BUFT Conference Room at Uttara inthe city. Mr. Muzaffar U Siddique, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFTand Mr. Angelo Leange, Managing Director, American & Efird (BG) Ltd.signed the MoU on behalf of their organization. Mr. Siddique, Chairman,

    Programsat BUFT

    A one-day training program was organized by BUFT UNIDO, BWTG-BEST Programme &

    EU/NORADon 14th July, 2012 on ``How to write a Research Proposal at BUFT as part ofUNIDO implemented Better Work under BEST program. Prof. Dr. Marie Louise Klotz, President,

    Rhine-Wall University, Germany was the keynote speaker. The BUFT faculties participated in theday long training program.

    Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor of BUFT inaugurated the training program. Prof.

    Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor, BUFT, Registrar and Faculty members were also

    present in the training program.

    Training Program on Cutting Technology

    A one-day training program was organized by BUFT UNIDO, BWTG-BEST Program & EU/NORADon 26thNovember, 2012 on ``Cutting Technology. The training program at the BUFT was a part of

    UNIDO implemented Better Work under BEST program. Mr. Razvan Ionele, Textile Consultant,

    Gherz, Switzerland was the keynote speaker. The BUFT faculties participated in the day long training

    program.

    Management

    A two-day training programtitled Supply ChainManagement was held at theBGMEA University of Fashion& Technology (BUFT) on July

    15 and 16.

    The training program was jointlyorganized by BUFT and BetterWork in Textile and Garments(BWTG) of the Better Work and

    Standard (BEST) program ofUNIDO funded by EU with thesupport of the Government of

    Bangladesh and NORAD.

    Renowned global Expert from Niederrhein University of Applied Science, Germany Prof. Rudolf Haug, Dean& Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology conducted the two-day training program. At the end of thetraining programme Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor of BUFT distributed certificate among the

    The students of 101 batch of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and Quantum Foundation jointlyorganized a Blood Donation Program at BUFT Auditorium, Uttara, Dhaka.

    Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor of BUFT inaugurated the Blood Donation Program. Among others Prof.Engr. Dr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor, ANM Rafiqul Alam, Registrar, Faculty members Kazi Shamsur Rahman,Faruk Ahmed, Md. Atikur Rahman, Librarian of BUFT, Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman and S. K Foisal, coordinator, VoluntaryBlood Donation Programme of Quantum Foundation, other faculty members and officials of BUFT were also present in the

    event.

    Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor of BUFT in his inaugural speech said that the blood donation is one of thegreatest way to help human suffering. The students of BUFT 101 batch Rabbi, Kafi, Raihan, Soborna and other 101 batchstudents with Quantum volunteers coordinated the whole day programme. They collected over 113 units of blood donated by

    BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized a Doa Mahfil to observeNational Mourning Day on November 27, 2012 as declared by the government for theAshulia and Chittagong tragedy.

    All members of BUFT offerred special prayers and doa for the salvation of the deceasedsouls. Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan,Pro Vice Chancellor; Mr. ANM Rafiqul Alam, Registrar of BUFT were present in the
