Sharks Dominate Sabres 4-1 on West Coast OpenerBy George Kuhn Perhaps the San Jose Sharks are no longer the Sabres whipping boys. Even during the tank sea-sons the Sabres have dom-inated the Stanley Cup contending Sharks. Prior to Tuesday‘s game the Sa-bres were 9-0-1 in their last ten games against the Sharks. Buffalo has owned the Sharks on the road go-ing 6-2-2 in their last ten games at the Shark Tank. In their typical Shark fashion Tuesday night the Sabres opened the scoring just 1:10 into the game with Jack Eichel putting Josh Gorges rebound into an open net for a 1-0 lead. This was the fastest goal

the Sharks had surren-dered all season. The 1-0 score held up after 20 minutes despite a 20-9 shots advantage for the Sharks as the Sabres con-tinued their season long trend of surrendering far too many shots on goal. The 20 shots were the most the Sharks have had in any period this season. It took the Sharks 31 shots to beat Sabres goal-ie Robin Lehner. “Jumbo” Joe Thornton fed Logan Couture behind the net who centered the puck to Joe Pavelski for a one tim-er on a power play with 8:13 left in the second pe-riod. The Sabres or any team would find it hard to

win surrendering 31 shots just past the games half way point. The Sharks scored the winning goal on a fluke play that showed the fol-ly of putting the puck in front of your own net. Cody Franson had the puck standing on the back wall behind the net moving to his left. He slipped a pass forward to Jack Eichel who was skating lateral-ly to Franson‘s right di-rectly in front of him. But the fore checking Michael Haley managed to tip the puck changing it‘s direc-tion just slightly so that the pass hit Eichels skate. The puck caromed off his boot and past Lehner to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead. Pavelskis and Couture added third period scores in the Sharks 4-1 victory. San Jose dominated the game and nearly doubled the Sabers in shots 42-23. The Sabres need to reduce their opponents shots on goal. This was the Sabres fourth loss in their last five games.

Are you looking for that ONE true love? Look no further than Sammi, a 5-6 year old American Bulldog who is brimming with devotion and adoration for her peo-ple. She has been living in a caring foster home waiting patiently for a special some-one to sweep her off of her feet. Sammi is a plus size gal with a plus size personal-ity. She is everything you could want in a lady- impeccable manners, snuggly affec-tionate, light-hearted, loyal, curvaceous and bodacious. Despite her plentiful size (115 lbs), she never tries to take advan-tage and is truly a gentle giant. While she does enjoy the company of children, we think she would do better in a home with children 12 and older because of her size. Sammi is 100% housebroken, crate trained, and knows all of her basic commands (sit, down, shake).

Guests will also en-joy good clean fun at the Shaving Cream Chaos station and create chem-ical reactions, watching as household glue chang-es before their eyes at the Polymer Slime station. Visitors will challenge themselves to build a tall structure out of dried spa-

ghetti and marshmallows at the Spaghetti Tower Challenge. Make and take ac-tivities will include the Strawberry DNA Smash, where visitors will make their own strawberry DNA necklace by smash-ing berries and mixing liquids and Splatter Hats, where guests can de-sign their own beautiful disaster. Splatter Hats have a materials fee of $7 for non-members and $5 for members. Pre-reg-istration recommended but not required. Special guests from the Buffalo Zoo will also be joining in the messy fun. Docents,

keepers and critters will present “What‘s the scoop on poop?” Admission to Messfest is included with general Museum admission and free for Museum Mem-bers. Guests may save time in line the day of the event and purchase Messfest event tickets, Messtacular! stage show tickets and Splatter Hat sessions in advance. The STREAM & LAKE MAP OFNEW YORK resembles another map--known to Pennsylvania anglers as the“Lost Stream Map.”

It was completed in 1965 after a 30 year effort by Howard Higbee, a former Penn State Professor.

Professor Higbee painstakinglyplotted by hand, the location of45,000 miles of streams onto themap. It sold extremely well - untilthe printer declared bankruptcy andhauled Higbee’s work to the landfill.

But reprints were impossiblebecause the maps were printed innon-photographic blue. Higbee was even offered $400 for one of his lastmaps. And state agencies wereforced to keep their copies underlock and key.

Then, at the age of 91, HowardHigbee’s dream came true.Computers made it possible toreprint the map.

Then the STREAM & LAKE MAPOF NEW YORK was created.

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE Most holy apostle St. Jude Thaddeus faith-ful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master in to the hands of the enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases and of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so needy; make use, I implore you of that particular privilege accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings particularly (here mention your petition) ... and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O blessed Jude to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.
