Introduction
I have enjoyed a varied employment history. I have worked at various levels including
management and team leader positions.
In 1997 I completed a comprehensive Plant Operator’s course. This course was
delivered by the Civil Skills Centre, South Australia and was undertaken in a live
works environment covering many aspects of mobile plant operation within the
earthmoving industry.
On completion of the Plant Operator training I pursued a career working within the
mineral exploration / mineral extraction industry. While working as a contract Field
Assistant and Plant operator family commitments prompted me to seek employment
in Adelaide.
I secured a position with Patrick Stevedores and was promptly promoted to a
permanent guarantee position. This position enabled me to further enhance my plant
operator skills and develop new workplace competencies. Upon further development
of my acquired work skills I regularly found myself in positions of leadership. I enjoy
leading fellow workers and positions of responsibility and take pride in being able to
complete tasks and complete them well.
While working for Patrick Stevedores I obtained workplace training and assessing
qualifications. I then studied for and completed the requirements to become a national
O.H.S. assessor for various loadshifting equipment and dogging. Patrick stevedores
then commissioned me to create and deliver training / assessment packages
incorporating Marine Orders and relevant acts and regulations whilst working as a
Stevedore.
A position with Capital Stevedoring prompted relocation to Melbourne to further my
career within the Stevedoring Sector as a trainer and stevedore.
In 2006 we relocated to Geraldton and subsequently started work for Patrick within
the bulk handling facility. Existing workplace competencies enabled me to start
structuring a group of inexperienced workers into an effective plant operating team.
Whilst working as the Team Leader I created team procedure for wash downs,
Control room operations, shiploading chute changes and effective daily work plans.
I was sent by Patrick’s during the last week of berth 5 shiploader construction to
create an operator safe working instruction on the new shiploader.
Mercantile Marine in August 2010 offered me the opportunity to work as the
company Stevedoring Manager working alongside two Geraldton Shipping icons John
Wilson and George Fossey.
As the Stevedore Manager my portfolio also included management of the surveying
and sampling divisions, Mid West Ports contract terminal representative and mine site
registered manager duties. Of most importance in the role was the protection of
Mercantile Marine principal’s, safe productive performance of all Mercantile Marine
Employees under my control whilst delivering excellent customer service.

Whilst working for Mercantile Marine I completed the University of Tasmania
diploma in Maritime and Logistics Management including a distinction in the 2nd year
university subject of Maritime Law. Other management related courses were
completed including ICAM lead investigator and Grievance Officer training.
Within this C.V. please find information relating to my employment history,
qualifications, licences and copies of workplace competency certificates.
