    ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT

    IE Business School shapes leaders who promote innovation and change in business organizations,entrepreneurs who create jobs, wealth and welfare. Since foundation, IE Business School has embraced

    entrepreneurship as its hallmark and has now become an institution of worldwide reference in thisfield. IE Business Schools entrepreneurial activity is conducted through the International Center forEntrepreneurial Management, which develops both academic and corporate activity.

    In the academic area, more than 1,500 students receive essential entrepreneurship education intheir Masters degree programs where students learn the process of identifying business opportunities,business plan development and finding resources for their implementation. In addition to this, electivesand specialized courses are offered in the areas of family business, franchising, social entrepreneurship,corporate entrepreneurship, finance for entrepreneurs and Venture Lab. This last initiative is a uniqueopportunity for students interested in starting their own businesses where they can develop a business planunder the mentoring of an entrepreneur or investor alumnus, and then after a strict selection committee,present their plan to an investor forum convened especially for this occasion.

    In the corporate area, IE Business School is leading initiatives such as Project Banespyme-Orange, aleading technology business plan competition in the Spanish market for over 10 years; GEM Project,an initiative that is unprecedented and whose current development makes it the observatory for theglobal entrepreneurial phenomenon, IE Business School is in-charge of the study in Spain since thesecond edition in 2000; other training programs and counseling inititatives with various institutionsallows the enhancement of entrepreneurial development in society and in companies, both large aswell as SMEs.

    The Owners and Entrepreneurs Management Program (OEMP) respondsto the training needs of leading executives and entrepreneurs who havereached a stage in their career where they are poised to seek how to taketheir company and themselves to the next level.     Once your business has reached peak point, it is time to rethink andevaluate how to evolve to the next level; going beyond your expectations.The Owners and Entrepreneurs Management Program allows you totake a step back from daily tactical activities and to take account of theoverarching strategy that steers your business. It is important at this s tage ofyour business and professional career to realize where you are today andwhere you would like to go.

    The OEMP is a learning experience and it provides you with a space forshared thinking with our faculty as well as a diverse group of entrepreneurialparticipants from different business backgrounds, countries and industries

    In-class Modules

    The OEMP is organized into three in-class modules of one week,each of which provides participants with core management contentalong with specific sessions such as Investment Readiness Sessionsand Growth Leadership Competences Sessions. Also, a series ofspecial sessions, such as Entrepreneurs Corner are conducted to

    complement the academic sessions.Each session revolves around a key topic.

    This program is aimed at owners and visionary entrepreneurswho lead businesses with annual sales of over 2 million andare preparing themselves and their businesses to grow further

    in an international environment.

    The first in-class module is dedicated to laying a solid foundation, bothpersonal and organizational, to face the challenges of globalization andinnovation on the way to profitable growth of the company.

    Main SessionsMain sessions address topics such as international economic environmentanalysis, new approaches to defining strategies, marketing, humanresource management, finance for entrepreneurs, management controland information systems. These sessions allow participants to update theirknowledge on key business issues, while assessing their strengths andweaknesses in each of the functional areas of the company to help themdevise an action plan to optimize the organization.

    Investment Readiness SessionsAn introduction to the venture capital industry and discuss the basics ofbusiness valuation and design of a fundraising strategy.

    Growth Leadership SessionsPreparing participants to lead the changes necessary to bring theirorganizations to the next level of competitiveness.

    Program Structure

    Preparing participants to manage the transition of their companiesoperations to a global business environment.

    Main SessionsMain sessions of this second module deal with issues such as the practicalitiesof doing business in other countries, international strategy, marketing ininternational markets, supply chain logistics, creating high performancemulti-cultural teams, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, andtax and legal aspects of international operations. All content is carefullydesigned to help identify the risks involved in the internationalization of acompany, as well as effective responses to them.

    Investment Readiness SessionsTopics such as company presentations for investors, preparing the Elevator

    Pitch, the Executive Summary, the Slide Deck and contractual aspectsof the relationship with professional investors, both Business Angels andInstitutional Funds.

    Growth Leadership SessionsNegotiations and making deals, specifically in international andmulticultural environments, as well as managing the diversity inherent ina global project.

    Innovation aimed at enabling sustainable and profitable growth over time.In a globalized environment, intense competition forces organizations toconstantly look for differentiation and hence, innovation in its product orservices and its own business model.

    Main SessionsIn the third module, the main sessions address topics such as innovationdevelopment strategies in international markets, corporate venturing,R+D+i, portfolio management, new media in marketing (Social Media),

    marketing innovations in a globalized economy, the role of informationtechnology and social innovation. These help prepare participants to notonly address innovation as systematic and repeatable, but also to keepalive the entrepreneurial spirit in the organizations culture and systems.

    Investment Readiness SessionsHow to present ones project to investors and exit strategies, includingselling the company.

    Growth Leadership SessionsTo help entrepreneurs understand how their minds should work in uncertain

    times and when to think creatively.Special SessionsEntrepreneurs Corner where successful entrepreneurs share theirexperiences and views with other participants in a relaxed environment.

    Venture Lab ChallengeParticipants have the option of par ticipating in the Venture Lab Challenge,a competition of business ideas in teams where participants give anentrepreneurial response to a challenge posed by IE and/or any of thecollaborating organizations. Participants also have the opportunity todevelop their own business ideas.
