Turbine components like fan blades,compressor blades, blisks, turbine disks,engine casings, etc., require a perfectsurface finish with low Ra readings.

These are achieved by processing theparts in top of the line rotary vibratorsequipped with the “gate clearing” featurefor gentle and 100% unloading of theparts from the finishing machine.

For somewhat more intensive finishingprocesses high performance Turbotroncentrifugal disk finishing machines areutilized.

And, the eco- friendly Trowapast finishingprocess produces surface finishes with Rareadings of <= 0.2μm.

Walther Trowal technical development of theMulti Vibrator MV, allows the intensive finishingof the inner and outer surface of hydraulichousings. This versatile vibratory system is alsoideally suited for processing delicate componentswhich must not touch each other during thevibratory finishing process.

Walther Trowal also offers solutions for coatingof mass produced bulk parts like screws, rivets,etc. Such bulk parts can be efficiently coated in“Rotamat” coating systems for corrosionprotection, visual differentiation and thedissipation of static electricity.

Trowal tub vibrators allow the efficient, costeffective finishing of the surface of large structuralcomponents used in wings, fuselages and landinggears with lengths of up to 6,000 mm (20 ft) and amaximum width of 1,300 mm (4.3 ft).

The proven “multi vib” vibratory drive systemguarantees an even, intensive movement of themedia mass over the complete length of thevibratory tub producing an absolutelyhomogeneous finish on the parts surface.

Shot peening in aerospace industry requiresabsolute accuracy and repeatability. Specialautomatic shot peening process with therobot shot peening system is developed byFeroEccoBlast. OEM manufacturers and MROproviders use shot peening technology for therepair and maintenance of all types of landinggear and engine components. Fullyautomated, PLC or PC controlled machinesmeet all technical requirements andspecifications for shot peening in Aerospaceindustry

Keeping in mind challenging geometries oftypical landing gear and landing gearcomponents a customized multiple toolingsystems was developed by Ferro Eco Blast.

For smallest and most precise ID a roboticmanipulated rotating lance was installed.Lance design incorporates servo mechanismalways driving small lance with stable pre-setvalue of RPM. This combining with accurateindexing table presents ideal solution notonly for landing gear ID but also for otheraerospace components such as LPTs or otherobjects containing small sized grooves andapertures. A large automatic horizontalrotating lance is programmed to peen the IDsurfaces of largest parts.
