REPORT ON INDUSTRY CONNECT ORIENTATION PROGRAM

Objective:

To provide a common forum to facilitate the interaction of students with Industry Experts to

develop their logical, critical analysis and coding skills and introduce the Mentees to their

respective Mentors

About the Speakers:

Mr. Mohan Kumar is working as a Practice Head for Wipro Limited. His area of expertise is in

Digital Technologies and deeply engaged with competency development and enabling Hyper-

scale Cloud practices and a campus ambassador and holds pre-placement talks, Campus

selection, Champions Inclusion, and Diversity programs at Wipro.

Mr. Natarajan Subramanian has over 20 years of work experience. He has worked as a Lead

Consultant in ETL, Database Development, Database Administration, and Data modelling. He

is proficient in automation using Windows PowerShell scripting, shell scripting and Batch

processing.

Mr. Saravanan has 20 years of experience in the Banking sector. He has expertise in handling

Handled areas like I.T. Infrastructure, Network, Database, Backup and Recovery, Information

Security Solutions, KYC, Channel operations like ATM, DEBIT CARD, INTERNET

BANKING, PoS, MOBILE BANKING , Large Project Management and Cloud

Balasubramanian Dhandapani has 16 years of extensive experience in supporting software

applications running in a 24x7 environment under defined Goals and SLA’s. He has been

involved extensively in ITIL concepts of Incident Management, Problem Management, Change

Management and Knowledge Management.

Mr. Vinod Kumar has over 16 years of industry experience with 3+ years as Scrum Master for

Complex Applications. He maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends

for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior

management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.

Mr. Vimal A Kannan is a dynamic & technically Competent IT Professional with close to 15

years of well-honed experience in Java, Big data engineering, DW, BI, Relational database

technologies. He is currently working as a Data Specialist with Brillio, Bangalore and has

hands-on expertise in analysis, design, development and documentation for components that

manage data ingestion, batch processing, data extraction, transformation and loading of data.

Mr. Purnendu Mukherjee has over 15 years of Experience in SSIS and data warehousing design,

development and maintenance. He has a Strong Scripting knowledge in C# and Python & also

in Database development using SQL/PL-SQL

Mr Unmesh Panigrahy has more than 14 years of experience and is currently working as a

Functional Engineer, Marketing Analytics in Kimberly Clark. He is a consulting professional

with a post- Graduation in Business Analytics . He is Skilled in Tableau, Microsoft Excel,

SSRS, HIVE, Teradata SQL, Oracle SQL Developer and is also a SAS Certified Base

Programmer.

Dr Antony Vincent has 10 years of experience and is currently a Project Manager at NTT Data,

Bangalore. He has a doctorate from ISBN university and a Masters's in Information Technology

from Madurai Kamaraj University. He has exhibited his impeccable training skills include IBM

Cloud Orchestrator, Cloud computing, MS dynamic CRM & MS project.

Mr.Vineeth kumar is Vigorous Technical Instructor with 9 years of experience and proven

skills in training students, teaching staff, and industry employees. Guided various students and

staff across India in both hardware and software oriented fields. His Area of Expertise includes

Cloud Computing, Database Management, Big Data Web Crawling, Data Mining Business

intelligence and Analytics, Cognitive Analytics Internet of Things.

Mr Praveen has 7 years of experience and is an engineer who has done his MBA. He is currently

working as a Manager-credit risk Analytics in Groww pvt ltd His areas of interest include

python programming, R programming, SAS programming, machine learning, deep learning,

credit risk analytics. He has also bagged many awards to his credit namely Achiever of the year

2018, analyst of the quarter and team star from HSBC bank.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The session started at 11.00 AM with a welcome speech by Anusha M of IV BCA B. Eleven

mentor from across the IT Industry has joined the session to provide their expertise and

experience to the students of New Horizon College, Kasturinagar. Each of the 11 mentors were

introduced to the Coding Club student members. The students were allocated to each mentors

based on their area of interest and the specialization area of the mentor. The eminent mentors

who were present during the virtual event were Mr.Mohan Kumar, Practice head, Wipro Ltd,

Mr.Natarajan Subramanian, DBA Lead, Mphasis Ltd, Mr.S.Saravanan, Head ,IT Strategy,

Karu Vysya Bank, Mr. Balasubramanian Dhandapani, Manager, Alshaya India PVT Limited,

Mr.Vinod Kumar, Consultant, Syntel Ltd, Mr.Vimal A Kannan, Senior Technical Architect,

Brillio Pvt Ltd, Mr. Purnendhu Mukherjee, Business Analyst, FMCG Industry, Mr.Unmesh

Each of the mentors took turn to interact with their mentees and gave them an idea about various

topics like Work-life evolving quickly in part due to GIG options, most popular GIG jobs, and

the like. Mr. Mohan Kumar took the lead and gave an insight into the mentoring activities and

mentoring engagement. He also gave special emphasis on how to make oneself industry ready

by following a continuous learning approach. Mr. Purnendu and Mr. Natarajan emphasized on

picking up any domain of their choice and earning certifications in that domain. .Mr.

Subramanian, Balasubramanian encouraged the students to improve their coding skills which

will be baseline for sustenance in the industry.

This was followed by a Q&A session. The students came up with various questions regarding

their preparation for higher education, career options, getting industry ready and many more.

The Mentors responded to all the queries and also highly appreciated the students for their

active participation. They also boosted their confidence to prepare themselves well, for the

coming years. The session concluded with a Vote of thanks which was delivered by Vinutha

Kotari of II year.
