Ladies Kaffee ~Klatsch

Dear Members and Friends just a special message to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Kaffee ~ Klatsch. I am happy to say that we still have a few founding

Members enjoying our monthly get together, however over the years we have

been fortunate to welcome and befriend many lovely Ladies to our group.

I would like to mention that in the earlier years I was delighted to organise some

unforgettable and exciting Bus trip’s for us and most often we included extra Club

Members to fill up the large Buses, on some of those memorable Day tours we vis-

ited; The Polish Place, St Bernhard’s Hotel in Mt Tamborine, then off to Maleny, Bribie Island, Stanthorpe and the

Hinze Dam at that time ,we included our Partners leaving them happily in charge of all Spirits, Wine & Beer which

we were allowed to take on Board in those days. These where the most unforgettable excur-

sions.

Lately we have become more modest in our activities; a Luncheon Date at the

“Sofitel” or meeting up with the Ladies from the Gold Coast German Club will

suffice.

In all, I believe we have had some wonderful years together with lasting memories

and frequently forming new friendships~ enjoying a great deal of laughter and song

~ in general being there for each other!

On behalf of everyone from the Kaffee ~ Klatsch I wish the Club Members~ the

Committee ~ Leanne & Danielle, the helpful Bar Staff as well as the employees of

the “ZUM KAISER” Restaurant a

“Merry Christmas and a prosperous and happy New Year!”

“Frohe Weihnachten und ein gesegnetes Neues Jahr ! “

Warm Regards

Gerda Schulz

News from the Ladies Group/Frauengruppe

Dear Members and Friends

This year has gone fast again and we thank everybody who supported us at our Fruehschoppen every month buying raffle tickets to win a Dinner for Two from our “Zum Kaiser Restaurant’, something from the bar or the wonderful meat trays. On Sunday 3rd December we will organise “SANTA “to come and hand out some presents to the children, whose Parents, or at least one is a Full-Member of our Club. The Ladies Group donates all the presents. As we all know Grandparents can bring a present for their grandchild, having clearly written their name on it and Santa will hand it out. It will be a lot of fun. We have to join our Clubs Christmas Party with the next Fruehschoppen on 11th December 2016. We will supply nibbles on each table as we have always done. We wish you a Happy Christmas and a successful New Year 2017. Guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr from Ingrid, Dorit, Trudy and Karen

It is with a big sigh of relief that our September/October/November season has come to

a close.

At times we were able to perform as a team … at other times we broke into mini groups

to perform at multiple venues.

Our performance even included filming for Channel 10.

After some 40 performances held all over South East Queensland, the team celebrated our

Christmas party with high festive spirits.

We used the performances at Oktoberfest Brisbane RNA, Brisbane German Club and a

variety of clubs and pubs to polish our new performances for the upcoming biennial

National Dancefest.

We also welcomed our old friend from Tasmania, Peter, who joined us on the dance floor

at the club.

Another friend, Nick, visited with Ruth from Munich … and delivered some new

Trachten pieces for the boys!

We are extending our training nights to perfect our new bell songs and dances in

preparation for the Dancefest in Canberra in April.

Thank you to our family, friends and club members who have continued to support us …

it is greatly appreciated.

We are proud to represent the Brisbane German Club.

As promised, we will try to

All About Andrew

—our resident musician

I was born in Poland (City of Szczecin) in the year 1950.

The City of Szczecin is probably better know as Stettin, the capital of the

province of Pomerania.

My Parents were, German Mother and Father born in Ukraine.

We spoke at home German, Polish and Russian.

I still recall my Mother singing a beautiful “ Volkslieder“

I started performing in year 1967. For many years I had my own Band and I

was a very promising vocalist.

I attended music school and worked in the local Music Theatre singing classical

Operetta.

In the early 80s my Family and I (Wife Eva and two Sons) decided to leave

Poland and settle in Australia. We arrived in Australia in the year 1983 and

shortly after I joined and became the Manager of The Echo Band.

In 1984 we were performing at the Greek Club (West End) when the German

Club President approached us and asked whether we could play at the German

Club, Vulture Street, East Brisbane.

For many years my Echo Band has performed at various Clubs including The

Polish Club, The Russian Club, The Ukraine Club, The Greek Club, and The

German Club Gold Coast .

We also played many German functions here in Brisbane and at The German

Club Gold Coast, and Oktoberfests at the EKKA and Thornlands.

These days I perform mostly as a “ One Man Band “ at the Brisbane German

Club, and have fully committed myself to the Brisbane German Club.

I am very grateful to the Club “Board of Directors” for the opportunity to

perform every Friday and Saturday Night and at many other Club functions

throughout the year.

During the day, I work for The Brisbane City Council, Development

LIVE MUSIC

Friday and Saturday

night with Andrew
