A Brintons woven carpet is born of over two centuries of experience

and the skills of around 2000 people. It marries the latest technology

to one of man’s oldest and most-favoured materials to create a truly

luxurious product. William Brinton began weaving carpets in

Kidderminster in 1783, and Michael Brinton is the sixth generation of

the family to be involved in the company. We’ve always believed

in producing the best quality possible, which makes our products

real masterpieces.

Our carpets are created using the best wools worldwide, which are

spun and dyed to our stringent specifications. The ‘Brintons blend’,

invented by us in the 1950s to combine the softness of 80 per cent

wool and the durability of 20 per cent nylon, is still used in all our

woven products today. We ensure accuracy and quality by designing

and building our own looms and create products that outlast and

outperform other carpets.

of yarn used to make the carpet.

Yarn which has been created by spinning different coloured

yarns together, giving a mottled effect when the ends are cut.

tuftedTufts of yarn are punched through a primary backing and

secured with a latex coat. This is less time-consuming and

therefore less costly than weaving but is still a durable product.

twistA type of carpet yarn with extra twist added in the spinning

process to create a more defined textured surface. The best

twist carpets use two-ply yarn, where two yarn ends are

twisted together to give an exceptionally hardwearing carpet.

velvet Fewer twists than twist pile, creating a soft velvety finish.

wiltonThe oldest method of weaving, offering limited colour choice

but a variety of textures. Great for textured plains and stripes.

woven A traditional process where the pile and backing yarns are
