Last year, we ended the fiscal year with only 87 paid homes out of the 243 homes in our neighborhood. We must strive to do much better this year. Currently we have 56 paid members for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. If you haven't done so already, please send in your check for your dues. Briar Meadow HOA needs ALL our households to participate in improving our beautiful and vibrant neighborhood. The dues paid are vital to maintaining the common areas of our neighborhood. Well maintained entries help improve the value of all 243 homes. Hopefully, most of you have noticed the landscaping improvements that have been done the last couple of years at our three entrances. Large boulders, plants, and flowers were added to the common areas. These improvements were made possible thanks to our paying members. Additionally, the Bradford pear trees that lined Legacy have been removed due to becoming a danger as well as in preparation for the upcoming replacement of the brick screening wall along Legacy. As a reminder, last year our annual Halloween gathering was cancelled due to lack of funds. This event has always been well attended and a fun way to meet our neighbors and celebrate our wonderful neighborhood. Please ensure that you pay your HOA dues and encourage your neighbors to do so also. **Mark your calendars for this year’s October 31 st Halloween gathering. Briar Meadow subdivision is a wonderful Plano neighborhood that has a voluntary Homeowners Association

July-September 2017

A Message from Your Briar Meadow HOA President

Jesse Reyes Volume 18, Issue 1

Briar Meadow HOA recently held its annual general meeting and 2017-2018 election. As we begin our new fiscal year, I

want to thank our outgoing members for their service on the Board and committees. I also want to welcome our new

Board and committee members. Jenni Mitchell is our new Secretary and Donna Croft will take over as the Beautification

chairperson. Thank you for stepping up to help make this a wonderful neighborhood. We look forward to what is sure to

be another great year for our HOA.

Our primary goal this year will once again be to increase our membership. Last year, we ended the fiscal year with only

87 paid homes out of the 243 homes in our neighborhood. We must strive to do much better this year. Currently we

have 56 paid members for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. If you haven't done so already, please send in your check for your

dues. Briar Meadow HOA needs ALL our households to participate in improving our beautiful and vibrant neighborhood.

The dues paid are vital to maintaining the common areas of our neighborhood. Well maintained entries help improve

the value of all 243 homes.

Hopefully, most of you have noticed the landscaping improvements that have been done the last couple of years at our

three entrances. Large boulders, plants, and flowers were added to the common areas. These improvements were made

possible thanks to our paying members. Additionally, the Bradford pear trees that lined Legacy have been removed due

to becoming a danger as well as in preparation for the upcoming replacement of the brick screening wall along Legacy.

As a reminder, last year our annual Halloween gathering was cancelled due to lack of funds. This event has always been

well attended and a fun way to meet our neighbors and celebrate our wonderful neighborhood. Please ensure that you

pay your HOA dues and encourage your neighbors to do so also. **Mark your calendars for this year’s

October 31st Halloween gathering. More details on this event to come later.

BRIAR MEADOW BEAUTIFICATION QUARTERLY UPDATE

Donna Croft, Beautification Chairperson

This June provided Plano with an abundance of rainfall. According to planoweather.com, the city had 9.24 inches of rainfall in June and thus far in July, we have received 2.78 inches of rainfall. All of the plants at the three entrances look very healthy as a result of the good rainfall. Now that we are in the heat of summer, our sprinklers have been turned on at the entrances to ensure we do not lose any landscaping due to extreme heat and lack of moisture. *SCREENING WALL UPDATE*

The Legacy screening wall project is proceeding on schedule and should begin in early 2018. There are many moving parts to this project that occur behind the scenes. Guideline dates are listed below: PRELIMINARY DESIGN (includes surveying, franchise utility research, design of screening walls and alleys) – May 2017

FINAL DESIGN – September 2017

ADVERTISE & BID PROJECT– November 2017

AWARD CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT and BEGIN CONSTRUCTION – Jan/Feb 2018

These dates are currently where the City is on the project. The consultant has been hired to complete the design of the project, barring any unforeseen issues or relocations of franchise utilities. We will know further where we are once the preliminary design is completed and the franchise companies (Atmos, Oncor, Frontier, etc.) can review the project and determine impacts to their facilities. Hopefully, these are minimized, but if not, they can put a substantial impact to the schedule of the project, as these companies will have to complete relocations. Once the project is complete we will have a beautiful new brick screening wall that runs along Legacy from Lowrey to Ridgemoor. While it is a long process, the end result will be worth the wait!!

Spring/Summer Watering Guidelines in Effect

April 1 - October 31

Beginning April 1, Plano residents and businesses are asked to only water a maximum of twice per week. 2017 Spring/Summer Recommended Water Guidelines

Only water when needed. You may not need to water if rain is in the forecast. Subscribe to WaterMyYard.org for weekly watering recommendations.

It is best not to water with sprinklers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. as these are the hottest hours of the day.

Foundations and landscaping, including grass, shrubs and trees, may be watered for up to 2 hours any day by a hand-held hose or soaker hose.

Low-flow drip irrigation systems may operate as needed.

A variance may be requested to water new landscapes for up to 30 days. Instructions are available at plano.gov/variances. Variances are not required for filling pools.

*As HOA watering involves watering of their common areas and in many cases the City of Plano right of way (which has no address), it was decided that all HOA watering and addresses ending in zero would follow an EVEN address watering schedule.
