MEET OUR PROSPECTIVE CONTEMPORARY
WORSHIP LEADER
BRIAN BLACK
This weekend will be an important time in the life of our church as we will be voting on a new worship leader for our contemporary service. As was previously announced, you will have the opportunity to meet Brian Black and his family this Saturday February 21st at 4:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room and then hear Brian lead worship at our contemporary service this Sunday February 22nd at 8:30 a.m. In
addition, Brian will also share a song and his testimony at the 10:50 a.m. service as well. At the conclusion of both morning services, a vote will be taken as to whether or not to extend a call for him to become our new contemporary worship leader. More information about Brian including his wealth of experience and heart for worship can be found inside this week’s edition of The Messenger. In case of inclement weather this weekend, be sure to check our website, Facebook page, or LEX 18 for any cancellations. It certainly has been a historic week weather-wise to say the least! Let’s hope the worst is behind us and that spring is not far away! In His Service, Bro. Bob
Worship Music for Sunday (February 22) This Sunday Bro. Bob will be preaching the message: "How Will
You Be Remembered?" from 2 Timothy 1:15-18, at BOTH AM services! Our praise team (led by Brian Black)
will lead the worship music for the 8:30 a.m. service! We will also hear a testimony from Brian, and extend a
church vote to call him as our new Contemporary Worship leader at the end of the early service! The
Worship Choir will share the “Heaven Medley” near the beginning of the 10:50 a.m. service! Plus, Brian Black will
share a song and his testimony again at the 10:50 am Service just before Bro. Bob's message! Lance and Michael will
play the instruments for the second am service! We will also have a church vote to call Brian at the end of the 10:50
am Service! Sunday night we will begin in the Sanctuary, have an opening song, and Bro. Bob will teach our next
topic, as we continue our work through "The Growing Up Challenge" in our various D-Groups!
The Worship Choir is Preparing an Easter Musical! We are just beginning work on this year's Easter Musical
("Jesus, Messiah") It's a good time to start singing with the choir again! We will be sharing the Easter Musical on
Palm Sunday Morning as the 10:50 am Service on March 29! We don't usually share our musicals on Sunday
mornings, so mark your calendars for something new! We practice EVERY WEDNESDAY night at 5:45 (weather
permitting)!
Sassy Ole Souls Pot-Luck & Rook Rescheduled We will try once again to have our pot-luck luncheon this Tuesday
(Feb. 24)! We will eat at 11:30 am in the Fireside Room, The church will provide fried chicken, drinks, and tableware!
Your favorite pot-luck dishes will provide the rest! I hope our weather will improve enough to make this happen. It will
feel good to get out of the house when it does! Yours in Christ, Mark
What a crazy week of weather we have had. I haven’t left the house since Sunday evening with all the snow we have gotten. While I am thankful we do not get this much snow every year, it sure is a sign of God’s beauty looking at the whiteness outside my window. I hope your kids have been able to take advantage of enjoying the snow while off from school this week.
Please be in prayer for several of our kids who will be competing in the AWANA Bible Quiz this Saturday in Lexington. They have worked hard in memorizing God’s Word and learning important doctrines of our faith. They will put this knowledge to test when they compete against children from other churches. While it is fun to win awards, the real prize is hiding God’s Word in their hearts. These truths will follow them their entire lives. Blessings, Adam
Our Youth Secret Church Event is coming in April! April 10-11 we will have a special guest speaker, Josh McClellan, and music will be led by Isaac Pittman who many of the students know from Crossings. I hope that students will prepare for this weekend with prayer and expectation that God will do great things!
Parents and students, deposits for camp at Jonathan Creek are past due. We still need more students to sign up to fulfill our lodging obligations. Please send your deposits in as soon as possible. Your payment can be made with a check made out to the church and given to the office or you may make your payment on the church website. In Christ, Zach

Brian Black’s Bio
Brian Black has been leading worship for 17 years at churches, conferences, and events across the southeastern United States. From his time as lead singer/lead guitarist with the band One Day Less to his upcoming solo album “Hope In Me,” he has always put worship at the forefront of his songwriting and music. Brian feels that worship goes far past music though, following the scriptural teaching of Romans 12:1; We are to make our lives a sacrifice to God as our spiritual act of worship.
Brian was born and raised in Lawrenceburg, graduating from Anderson County High School in 1996. He went on to the University of Kentucky, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in May of 2001. In June of 2001, he began his career as an Industrial Hygienist at the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, where he conducts OSHA inspections for facilities throughout the state. He currently holds the title of Industrial Hygiene Specialist and handles complex investigations while also training new employees.
Brian’s walk with Christ has given him great opportunities to meet and minister to people. He accepted Christ as his Savior when he was a freshman in high school and was baptized at Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church. As a budding musician, he began leading worship during his time in college, eventually serving as an Interim Worship Leader at Hope Community Church in Lawrenceburg, KY and as Worship Pastor at Restoration Church in Frankfort, KY. In his time at Hope Community Church, he also led the Streetlight Ministry, which performed church services at juvenile detention centers in Louisville and Jackson, KY. Brian led worship and preached for these services. Streetlight Ministry saw numerous young men and women give their lives to Christ.
Brian and his wife, Cassandra, live in Lawrenceburg with their son, Chase, and daughter, Kendall. Cassandra has spent the better part of the past 20 years working in universities, specializing in educational technology and curriculum design. The Black family is excited to serve God and live in obedience to His calling.
