It s no the size of the dog, it s the size of thefight in the dog

We learned that from David and his fightagainst Goliath.

We saw it was a matter of perspective:± TO THE FEARFUL JEWS: He s too big to hit± TO DAVID WITH GOD S HEART: He s too big to

miss!



Tonight we ask: What makes us vulnerable tointimidation?

EVERYONE must deal with it. Prior victorydoes not exclude you from future threat.i.e.David, Elijah

We are going to look into the life of theApostle Peter to help answer our question



Peter was strong, bold, and at times fearless.

Some dismiss him as being all talk but

remember he stood up to angry mob and cutoff a man s ear outnumbered by at least 20 to1.

But you still must ask the question, whywould he stand up to an angry mob and thendeny the Lord to a young slave girl later.



The disciples were gathered with Jesus at thePassover where communion was shared.He then drops the bomb on them of someonebetraying Him onto the hands of his enemies

Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall beoffended because of me this night: for it is

written, I will smite the shepherd, and thesheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.Mt 26:31



Offended : skandalizo, to put a snare orstumbling block in the way

Every scandal in our lives gives us anopportunity to stumble.

This is NOT what I signed up for!

Of course we confess we would never stumbleno matter what!



Peter answered and said unto him, Thoughall men shall be offended because of thee, yetwill I never be offended Mt. 26:33

Peter s protest : Peter said unto him, ThoughI should die with thee, yet will I not denythee.

But he would be offended, stumble and evendeny his dearest friend



They then left the passover meal and headedfor GETHESEMANE the oil press.

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a placecalled Gethsemane, and saith unto thedisciples, Sit ye here, while I go and prayyonder. Mt 26:36

Jesus was being squeezed and so are we.What comes out is what is in us.



And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold,Satan hath desired to have you, that he maysift you as wheat: Lk. 22:36

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith failnot: and when thou art converted, strengthenthy brethren Lk.22:37



Yet once more I shake not only the earth, butalso heaven. Now this, Yet once more,indicates the removal of those things that arebeing shaken, as of things that are made, thatthe things which cannot be shaken mayremain. Therefore, since we are receiving a

kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us havegrace, by which we may serve God acceptablywith reverence and godly fear. Heb 12:26-28



The call to this hour is a call to pure love of theLord Jesus Christ. Yet we act like we all havethis covered, I love the Lord

Yet at the same time we struggle with fearsand insecurities.

Peter had his strengths and his weaknessesslike us all, but at the end of the day it was hislove that was being tested



And we have known and believed the lovethat God has for us. God is love, and he whoabides in love abides in God, and God in him.Love has been perfected among us in this:that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in thisworld. There is no fear in love; but perfectlove casts out fear, because fear involvestorment. But he who fears has not been madeperfect in love. 1 Jn. 4:16-18



These likewise are the ones sown on stonyground who, when they hear the word,immediately receive it with gladness; andthey have no root in themselves, and soendure only for a time. Afterward, whentribulation or persecution arises for the word s

sake, immediately they stumble. Mk.4:16-17
