Sports of Brazil
Popular sports of Brazil include Jiu Jitsu teaches how a smaller weak
person can defend against a stronger and bigger person if they use the
right techniques. Jiu Jitsu is based on grappling, but focuses on ground
fighting. Anderson “The Spider” Silva is a famous UFC fighter from
Brazil, and he uses jiu jitsu. Anderson Silva is a champion UFC fighter.
Jiu jitsu was created from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan in the
early 20th century.

A popular sport in Brazil is capoeira a musical kickboxing. The martial
art and form may have come from slaves from Angola. There are
capoeira clubs in Brazil. Rio and Salvador are considered the center of
the sport.

The Amazon region in Brazil is home of many unusual and colorful
animals. The parrot like aurora flies among the tall trees of the Amazon
River. The most popular animal in Brazil are the to co toucan. Also a
white- lined bat is another popular animal. The female white-lined bat
may become pregnant while she is still lactating or nursing babies. Their
is 1300 different bird species.

The capybara, the world’s largest rodent, weighs as much as 100
pounds (45.5 kilograms). Giant armadillos can’t curl up enough to
totally protect themselves like other armadillos. Giant armadillos live
from 12 to 15 years. The three banded armadillo is considered an
endangered species. Beneath the jungle canopy live colorful birds such
as parrots and toucans as well as giant rodents, a foot-wide butterflies,
and orcas, or spotted Jaguars.

The three banded armadillo is considered an endangered species.
Jaguars are endangered species. On many rivers in the Amazon Basin
you should catch glimpse of the pink dolphins. Members of the dog
family are the crab-eating fox. Two animals rarely seen in the Amazon
Basin are the spotted jaguar, and spotted leopard.

Fruit
Fruit is an important food when it comes to Brazil. Some fruits can
be used as drinks, sweets, and possibly even ice cream. Also, in some
parts of Brazil, There are many different types of foreign olives due to
many different immigrants. Believe it or not, over 50% of cars made in
Brazil run on alcohol instead of gasoline. Another thing about Brazilians,
they consider avocadoes a sweet.

Popular Foods
Many of Brazil’s foods are influenced by Africa. Brazil’s national
dish is feijoada, which , in short, is beans and meat. The national
dessert in Brazil is very much like truffles. Empanadas and deep fried
chicken are two fairly popular foods in Brazil. Empanadas are bread
(sort of) stuffed with meat, fruit, vegetables, and/or cheese. Burgers,
cola, pizza, and coffee are also fairly popular.

Lastly, Brazil is one of the world leaders in crop and livestock
production. The U.S.A. is the only country that makes more crops and
livestock. Strangely enough, in the 1500’s, farmers only grew one type
of crop in their gardens. Brazil is the largest producer of oranges,
bananas, and sugar cane. Brazil is also one of the largest pig/ hog
producers.

Brazil consists of twenty-six states and employs twenty thousand
people. The senate is
considered upper class and the Supreme Court is made up of eleven
justices. Approximately 20 % of the population is employed by the
government.
Brazil is the biggest place in South America and has the largest oil rig in
South America.
Oil is a very big thing for Brazil. The government makes 12.46 billion
barrels of oil each month. Oil is very important because it is a huge
source of income for the government.
