In August 2003, we were selected as the sole provider or ADM
services to a major semiconductor company in the US.
As part o our engagement, we started on a transition process,
taking over application support rom the clients employees. This
was a daunting task because o the complexity o applications and
the diversity o technologies. As we were making steady progress
in the transition, a surprise was around the corner. The client
had decided to demerge their SPS business unit into a separate
semiconductor company.
What did this mean for us?
The demerger was going to impact IT systems directly. New systems had
to be implemented on an aggressive timeline even as we needed to
replicate some and retire others. While we ocused on the transition,
we were also expected to contribute signicantly to IT-related
demerger activities. We had to make quick and aggressive changes
to our transition schedule i.e. to pull-in transition waves to all in
line with demerger timelines. This was a real test o our agility our
ability to ramp-up as well as the fexibility o our planning process.
How did we are? Judge rom the award the client gave us that year.
We were declared an Outstanding partner or successul transition.

We are a dependable partner or our clients. They know
they can rely on us to go the distance (quite literally, in one
case where our consultants worked in Angola, Nigeria,Kazakhstan and Argentina on a global SAP roll-out or
a global energy major).
Regardless o circumstances, our clients know that we will
not let them down. For the same energy company, weve
provided uninterrupted support in the ace o naturalcalamities.
We have rapidly ramped up in response to increased demand
and when an insurance client wanted all vendors to scale
the engagement level down, we also reduced team size just
as efciently. Our clients know we put their needs frst and
measure our success by theirs.

The Enterprise Business Solution (EBS) Innovation lab we
have created for Chevron is an example of innovation in
action. The purpose of this lab is to showcase current and
future technical capabilities. We test innovative ideas with
business value for our client, prototype solutions to reduce
implementation risk and validate improved performance and
business cases. Many cutting-edge, exciting ideas have been
generated from the lab and we are working on developing
proof-of-concepts for them.

Integrity is part o our groups DNA. All companies under the
L&T umbrella operate with complete transparency and the
highest ethical standards we know no other way.
Integrity is best demonstrated during trying times. A client
decided to consolidate the number o vendors it had and the
outsourcing engagement was taken rom us and given to
another organization. Our teams had in-depth knowledge o
the clients enterprise system landscape and we were asked
to pass this on to the new vendor. Putting the clients needsbeore ours, we developed a robust knowledge transer
process that ensured there was minimum business disruption.
The handover was eected smoothly, without any hiccups.

passionOur teams have demonstrated their passion and commitment
time and again. For instance, we worked on a project todevelop multimedia components or Windows mobile-based
reerence platorm or a global media company. This was a
massive project rom start to commercialization and there
were many challenges along the way. Our team worked
under tremendous pressure to meet the tight deadline o
18 months. They proved that when you are driven by
passion, you succeed against all odds.

meritocracyfair-play&Shankar joined L&T Inotech as a sotware engineer trainee. Soon, he realized
that his interests and skill set were better suited to customer and business-
related unctions rather than a pure technical unction. He talked to his
seniors about this and keeping in mind his hard work and commitment,
they encouraged him to apply or PACE (Program or Account Management
Excellence), an initiative within the company to identiy and train account
managers. Hundreds o engineers across the company applied, and the fnal
selection was done ater rigorous rounds o tests and interviews. Shankar
was selected or the program and today, he is a senior business development
executive or an important customer account.
Meritocracy and air-play drive all decisions about people management at
L&T Inotech. We recognize that it is our people who deliver the solutions our
clients seek rom us. We strive to give them opportunities that will help them
grow both proessionally and personally.

Together, we are stronger, smarter and more eective.
Respect or each other and teamwork has played a big
part in our success. For instance, implementing CMM
Level 5 processes successully across the company is no
easy task. A team was handpicked across BUs to make
this happen and code named T15 (Team o 15). T15
worked with the leadership team o each BU to carry
out a gap analysis, defne new processes, train
BU members and implement processes. The whole
process was overseen by a Steering Committee.
This journey required the T15 members to be
aligned to the goal set by the BU, while the BU
members needed to understand and ollow the new
processes. A huge amount o co-ordination was
called or and all teams worked as one to overcome
the challenges. In just six months, we were ready to
go or the CMM assessment.
